عَمَِّ 1499 اَلتَّکْوِیْرَ

َ وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ ﴿۱۸﴾ إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ ﴿۱۹﴾ ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ ﴿۲۰﴾ مُطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ ﴿۲۱﴾ وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُونٍ ﴿۲۲﴾ وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ ﴿۲۳﴾ وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ ﴿۲۴﴾

﴾18﴿ Wassubhi izaa tanaffas
﴾19﴿ Innahoo laqawlu rasoolin kareem
﴾20﴿ Zee quwwatin 'inda zil 'arshi makeen
﴾21﴿ Mutaa'in samma ameen
﴾22﴿ Wa maa saahibukum bimajnoon
﴾23﴿ Wa laqad ra aahu bilufuqil mubeen
﴾24﴿ Wa maa huwa 'alal ghaibi bidaneen9

﴾18﴿ And by the dawn when it breathes
﴾19﴿ Indeed, this is surely the word of a noble Messenger
﴾20﴿ Possessing strength, and honored by the Lord of the Throne
﴾21﴿ His word is obeyed there, and he is trustworthy
﴾22﴿ And your companion is not mad
﴾23﴿ And indeed, he saw it at the clear horizon
﴾24﴿ And he is not withholding knowledge of the unseen

[19] This is the response to the oath, and its purpose is to affirm the truthfulness of the Qur’an.
The connection between the oaths and the response is that, just as stars disappear, appear, and move, so too the verses and surahs of the Qur’an are revealed in portions to the people of the world — becoming manifest after having been hidden in the knowledge of Allah the Exalted.
And just as the night passes and the day shines, likewise with the coming of the Qur’an, the darkness of disbelief, polytheism, and ignorance vanished, and the light of faith and Islam was established.
These examples are perceptible certainties — likewise, the Qur’an itself is certain truth.
(رَسُولٍ) — refers to the angelic messenger, i.e., Jibrīl (peace be upon him), and qawl means message and its delivery.
(كَرِيمٍ) — he possesses both outward and inward nobility, unlike the cursed and disgraceful devil.
The nobility of Jibrīl is proven by the nobility of the words of the Qur’an he delivered.
[20] (ذِي قُوَّةٍ) — this indicates that the devil cannot come near him, nor can he oppose him at the time of bringing revelation.
[21] (ثَمَّ) — is an adverb of place, referring to the realm above the heavens.
This description indicates that Jibrīl, just as he holds honor with Allah the Exalted, is also honored among all the angels — because they all obey him.
(أَمِينٍ) — meaning he has not added to or taken away anything from the revelation, but has conveyed it completely and faithfully.
[22,23,24] This is the affirmation of the integrity of the human Messenger after the affirmation of the angelic Messenger, serving as verification and authentication of the chain of the Noble Qur’an.
(وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ) — ṣāḥib means companion, indicating one who is sincere and well-wishing, or it refers to the fact that he is from among your own people.
(عَلَى الْغَيْبِ) — the intended meaning of ghayb here is the revelation of the Qur’an. It is called relative unseen (ghayb iḍāfī), as it cannot be comprehended through the senses or intellect — rather, it was sent down to the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) through revelation.
(بِضَنِينٍ) — with ḍād, it means stingy — that is, the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) does not withhold the revelation, but openly conveys it completely to all.
This means he is extremely generous and not like a soothsayer who hides parts of news for personal gain or public prestige.
