َقَدْ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ 1349 اَلْمُجَادَلَة

َ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُحَادُّونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ أُولَئِكَ فِي الْأَذَلِّينَ ﴿۲۰﴾ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَأَغْلِبَنَّ أَنَا وَرُسُلِي إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ ﴿۲۱﴾ لَا تَجِدُ قَوْمًا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ يُوَادُّونَ مَنْ حَادَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَوْ كَانُوا آبَاءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ أَوْ إِخْوَانَهُمْ أَوْ عَشِيرَتَهُمْ أُولَئِكَ كَتَبَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْإِيمَانَ وَأَيَّدَهُمْ بِرُوحٍ مِنْهُ وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ أُولَئِكَ حِزْبُ اللَّهِ أَلَا إِنَّ حِزْبَ اللَّهِ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ ﴿۲۲﴾

﴾20﴿ Innal lazeena yuhaaaddoonal laaha wa Rasoolahooo ulaaa'ika fil azalleen
﴾21﴿ Katabal laahu la aghlibanna ana wa Rusulee; innal laaha qawiyyun 'Azeez
﴾22﴿ Laa tajidu qawmany yu'minoona billaahi wal yawmil aakhiri yuwaaaddoona man haaaddal laaha wa Rasoolahoo wa law kaanooo aabaaa'ahum aw abnaaa'ahum aw ikhwaa nahum aw 'asheeratahum; ulaaa'ika kataba fee quloobihi mul eemaana wa ayyadahum biroohimminhu wa yudkhilu hum jannatin tajree min tahtihal anhaaru khaalideena feehaa; radiyal laahu 'anhum wa radoo 'anhu; ulaaa 'ika hizbul laah; alaaa inna hizbal laahi humul muflihoon

﴾20﴿ Indeed, those who oppose the limits set by Allah and His Messenger are among the most humiliated
﴾21﴿ Allah has decreed: "Surely, I and My messengers will prevail." Indeed, Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty
﴾22﴿ You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day befriending those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers, their sons, their brothers, or their kindred. It is they in whose hearts He has inscribed faith and has strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. They are the party of Allah. Behold, indeed, the party of Allah is the truly successful

[20] In this verse, there is a severe warning directed generally to all those who oppose (the commands of Allah and His Messenger), regardless of the time period they belong to.
In verse 5, the warning was specifically for those who oppose within this Ummah, which is why their comparison was made with the earlier communities — this is the first difference between the two verses.
The second difference is that verse 5 contained a supplication of evil (a curse), whereas this verse is a statement of fact and a ruling regarding their humiliation and disgrace.
[21] After the warning, there is glad tidings for the people of faith — of victory and divine support.
“Kataba” (He has written) refers to what has been decreed in the Book of Destiny, and there is no possibility of change in it.
“And My messengers” — meaning, those messengers who fight against enemies will ultimately be victorious in battle in terms of the outcome, and all of them are victorious in terms of argument and proof. A similar statement is found in Surah al-Ṣāffāt (182).
[22] Since the traits of the corrupt opposers were mentioned earlier in the surah, this verse strongly encourages the believers to disassociate from them, with great emphasis.
“You will not find a people…” — meaning, among the people of true faith, it is impossible to find those who combine faith with love for the enemies of Allah and His Messenger. The phrase “you will not find” is used in an emphatic manner to show impossibility.
“Even if they were their fathers” — meaning, they do not consider any blood relation or family tie when it comes to disassociating from the opposers.
This also implies that in such cases, the ruling of maintaining family ties (ṣilah raḥm) does not apply.
“It is they in whose hearts He has inscribed faith” — this indicates complete certainty, a faith so firm that it is not erased by love for anything other than Allah, just like a carved inscription that cannot be washed away with water.
“And He supported them with a spirit from Him” — according to the narration from Rabīʿ, this refers to the Noble Qur’an and Qur’anic knowledge, pointing to the fact that faith is strengthened through the Qur’an.
“Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him” — this implies that they were dissatisfied with creation for the sake of Allah, and in return, they earned His pleasure.
“It is they who are the party of Allah” — this is mentioned in contrast to the party of Shayṭān. It indicates that one who sides with Allah, even if it means leaving his close relatives or companions for His sake, and refuses to give them love or support, is truly of His party.
Note: Qurtubī narrates from Imām Mālik that this verse is proof that it is forbidden to befriend those who deny divine decree (qadar) and to sit in their gatherings. The same ruling applies to all oppressors and innovators. Shurbīnī added that anyone who inclines toward someone deviated from the religion or flatters a person with heretical beliefs, Allah will remove the light of tawḥīd from his heart.
