قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ ْ 1281 الطور

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

وَالطُّورِ ﴿۱﴾ وَكِتَابٍ مَسْطُورٍ ﴿۲﴾ فِي رَقٍّ مَنْشُورٍ ﴿۳﴾ وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ ﴿۴﴾ وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ ﴿۵﴾ وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ ﴿۶﴾ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ ﴿۷﴾ مَا لَهُ مِنْ دَافِعٍ ﴿۸﴾ يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاءُ مَوْرًا ﴿۹﴾ وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا ﴿۱۰﴾

﴾3﴿ Fee raqqim manshoor
﴾4﴿ Wal baitil ma'moor
﴾5﴿ Wassaqfil marfoo'

﴾7﴿ Inna 'azaaba Rabbika lawaaqi
﴾8﴿ Maa lahoo min daafi'
﴾9﴿ Yawma tamoorus samaaa'u mawraa
﴾10﴿ Wa taseerul jibaalu sairaa

﴾3﴿ In the spread-out, open pages

﴾5﴿ And by the elevated roof

﴾7﴿ Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is certainly bound to occur

﴾9﴿ And the sky will revolve with a great rotation

Surah At Tur
The Mount

Relevancy: This surah has several aspects compared to the previous one. The first aspect is that in Surah Adh-Dhariyat, there was a mention of the truthfulness of the promise and the certainty of the recompense. Now, in this surah, one form of recompense is mentioned, which is punishment. The second aspect is that in that surah, the mention was of being thrown into the fire, whereas in this surah, the calamities of the fire are described. The third aspect is that in that surah, there was a general glad tidings for the righteous, whereas in this surah, the glad tidings are detailed.
Claim of this surah: The resurrection is proven by mentioning the occurrence of punishment. It also establishes monotheism by rejecting associating partners in supplication and the attribution of a child to Allah, as seen in (verses 28, 39, 43, and 47).
Summary of the surah: This surah is divided into two sections. The first section extends up to verse (29). In this section, five evidences are presented in support of the surah's claim. Then, the claim itself is mentioned, followed by nine ways of warning about the Hereafter. After that, a detailed glad tidings is given in eighteen aspects, along with the mention of the reason for entering Paradise in verse (28).

interpretation

[from 1 to 6] All these oaths serve as testimonies to establish the claim mentioned afterward. (الطُّورِ) refers to any mountain with trees and vegetation. However, this name is specifically famous for the mountain where Allah Almighty spoke to Musa (peace be upon him). The polytheists, in imitation of the People of the Book, acknowledged these events and the sanctity of Mount Tur. (وَكِتَابٍ مَسْطُورٍ فِي رَقٍّ مَنْشُورٍ) – The best interpretation is that it refers to the Torah, which was written on tablets and given to Musa (peace be upon him), as mentioned in Surah Al-A’raf (7:145). (وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ) – According to the Hadith of Mi'raj, in the seventh heaven, Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was shown Al-Bayt Al-Ma'mur, where seventy thousand angels enter daily for worship and never return for another turn. It is a house filled with the worship of angels. Another possible interpretation is that it refers to the Ka'bah, which is continuously filled with worshippers performing Hajj and Umrah. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) rebuilt it, and near it, the punishment descended upon the People of the Elephant. Therefore, it is cited as evidence of punishment. (وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ) – The sky, from which many punishments have descended upon the deniers, is mentioned here as evidence of divine retribution. (وَالْبَحْرِ) – The sea, where the flood drowned the people of Nuh (peace be upon him) and where Pharaoh was destroyed, also serves as testimony to the punishment of Allah.
[7,8] This is the response to the oath, and the connection between the oaths and their response has already been explained. All the oaths point toward events of punishment.
[9,10] At this point, the surah mentions the occurrence of punishment, referring to the Day of Judgment. It describes the terrors of that day, including the conditions of the heavens and the mountains—the day when the sky will whirl with a great rotation.
