َقَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ 1280 الذَّارِيَات

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَمَا أَنْتَ بِمَلُومٍ ﴿۵۴﴾ وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ الذِّكْرَى تَنْفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿۵۵﴾ وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ ﴿۵۶﴾ مَا أُرِيدُ مِنْهُمْ مِنْ رِزْقٍ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ يُطْعِمُونِ ﴿۵۷﴾ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ ﴿۵۸﴾ فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا ذَنُوبًا مِثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَابِهِمْ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ ﴿۵۹﴾ فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ يَوْمِهِمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ ﴿۶۰﴾

﴾54﴿ Fatawalla 'anhum famaaa anta bimaloom
﴾55﴿ Wa zakkir fa innaz zikraa tanfa'ul mu'mineen
﴾56﴿ Wa maa khalaqtul jinna wal insa illaa liya'budoon
﴾57﴿ Maaa ureedu minhum mir rizqinw wa maaa ureedu anyyut'imoon
﴾58﴿ Innal laaha Huwar Razzaaqu Zul Quwwatil Mateen
﴾59﴿ Fa inna lillazeena zalamoo zanoobam misla zanoobi ashaabihim falaa yasta'jiloon
﴾60﴿ Fawailul lillazeena kafaroo miny yawmihimul lazee yoo'adoon

﴾54﴿ So turn away from them, for you are not to be blamed
﴾55﴿ And remind with the Quran, for indeed, reminding benefits the believers
﴾56﴿ And I did not create the jinn and mankind except that they may worship Me
﴾57﴿ I do not seek any provision from them, nor do I want them to feed Me
﴾58﴿ Indeed, Allah alone is the Provider, the Possessor of Power, the Strong
﴾59﴿ So indeed, those who have wronged will have their share of punishment, like the share of their predecessors. So let them not seek to hasten it
﴾60﴿ So woe to those who disbelieve because of the Day they are promised

[54,55] This is a consolation and encouragement for the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace).
[56] Its connection with (ذَكِّرْ) is that it means: remind them of the wisdom behind the creation of jinn and mankind.
(إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ) — Question: If the purpose of creating jinn and humans is to worship Allah the Exalted along with monotheism, then many among jinn and humans are not people of monotheism. So, does this imply opposition to the will of Allah the Exalted? And does this prove the doctrine of the Mu‘tazilah? But that contradicts many texts.
Answer: There are several ways to explain this:
First way: It refers to the acknowledgment of servitude to Allah the Exalted — whether willingly or by compulsion. Thus, disbelievers and polytheists, in a state of compulsion, do acknowledge their servitude to Allah the Exalted.
Second way: It means that they were commanded and made responsible for monotheism — they were instructed, as in verse 5 of Surah Al-Bayyinah.
[57] In this is the affirmation of the divinity of Allah the Exalted — that Allah the Exalted is in no need whatsoever, and it removes any false assumption.
Firstly, when a human creates slaves for himself, he does so for his own purposes and benefits. But Allah the Exalted says: I did not create [them] for any purpose or benefit for Myself.
(مِنْ رِزْقٍ) — meaning, the seeking of sustenance and efforts to earn it are for the benefit of the servants themselves. In this, Allah the Exalted has intended no benefit or purpose for Himself.
[58] Since some masters do not take service from their slaves, and therefore do not provide sustenance either, Allah the Exalted removed this false assumption as well with the statement: (إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ) — Indeed, Allah is the Provider.
(الْمَتِينُ) — This indicates that no weakness whatsoever comes into the strength of Allah the Exalted.
[59,60] This is a worldly warning — meaning, when the wisdom behind the creation of jinn and humans was mentioned, and the power of Allah the Exalted was described, this became a reason for the punishment of the wrongdoers — those who opposed the purpose of their creation.
(ذَنُوبِ) — originally refers to a bucket filled with water; it also refers to a bitter day that is very long. Here, it means a large portion of punishment.
(مِثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَابِهِمْ) — refers to the deniers among previous nations whose punishments were mentioned in this surah. Thus, what is meant here is a worldly punishment.
