وَمَا لِيَ 1087 الصافات

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ ﴿۵۰﴾ قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٌ ﴿۵۱﴾ يَقُولُ أَإِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ ﴿۵۲﴾ أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ ﴿۵۳﴾ قَالَ هَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُطَّلِعُونَ ﴿۵۴﴾ فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ ﴿۵۵﴾ قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِنْ كِدْتَ لَتُرْدِينِ ﴿۵۶﴾ وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنْتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ ﴿۵۷﴾ أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ ﴿۵۸﴾ إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ ﴿۵۹﴾ إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ ﴿۶۰﴾ لِمِثْلِ هَذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعَامِلُونَ ﴿۶۱﴾ أَذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ ﴿۶۲﴾ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَةً لِلظَّالِمِينَ ﴿۶۳﴾ إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ ﴿۶۴﴾ طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ ﴿۶۵﴾ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ ﴿۶۶﴾ ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِنْ حَمِيمٍ ﴿۶۷﴾

﴾50﴿ Fa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa badiny yatasaaa 'aloon
﴾51﴿ Qaala qaaa'ilum minhum innee kaana lee qareen
﴾52﴿ Yaqoolu 'a innaka laminal musaddiqeen
﴾53﴿ 'A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa 'izaaman 'a innaa lamadeenoon
﴾54﴿ Qaala hal antum muttali'oon
﴾55﴿ Fattala'a fara aahu fee sawaaa'il Jaheem
﴾56﴿ Qaala tallaahi in kitta laturdeen
﴾57﴿ Wa law laa ni'matu Rabbee lakuntu minal muhdareen
﴾58﴿ Afamaa nahnu bimaiyiteen
﴾59﴿ Illa mawtatanal oola wa maa nahnu bimu'azzabeen
﴾60﴿ Inna haazaa lahuwal fawzul 'azeem
﴾61﴿ Limisli haaza falya'ma lil 'aamiloon
﴾62﴿ Azaalika khairun nuzulan am shajaratuz Zaqqoom
﴾63﴿ Innaa ja'alnaahaa fitnatal lizzaalimeen
﴾64﴿ Innahaa shajaratun takhruju feee aslil Jaheem
﴾65﴿ Tal'uhaa ka annahoo ru'oosush Shayaateen
﴾66﴿ Fa innahum la aakiloona minhaa famaali'oona minhal butoon
﴾67﴿ Summa inna lahum 'alaihaa lashawbam min hameem

﴾50﴿ Then they will turn to one another, questioning each other
﴾51﴿ A speaker among them will say, Indeed, I had a companion
﴾52﴿ Who used to say, Are you indeed among those who affirm (the Oneness of God and the Resurrection)
﴾53﴿ Is it when we have died and become dust and bones that we will indeed be recompensed
﴾54﴿ He will say, Will you look down and see (where he is now)
﴾55﴿ So he will look down and see him in the midst of Hell
﴾56﴿ He will say, By Allah, you almost led me to ruin
﴾57﴿ And if it were not for the grace of my Lord, I would surely have been among those brought into the punishment
﴾58﴿ Are we not to die
﴾59﴿ Except for our first death, and we will not be punished
﴾60﴿ Indeed, this is surely the great success
﴾61﴿ For such a reward, let the doers strive
﴾62﴿ Is this a better hospitality, or the tree of Zaqqum
﴾63﴿ Indeed, We have made it a trial for the wrongdoers
﴾64﴿ Indeed, it is a tree that grows in the depths of Hell
﴾65﴿ Its branches are as if they were the heads of devils
﴾66﴿ Then indeed, they will surely eat from it and fill their bellies with it
﴾67﴿ Then indeed, for them, there will be a mixture of scalding water to drink with it

[from 50 to 60] This too is part of the glad tidings, because a reason for punishment for the enemy and being saved from the cause of punishment is a great blessing.
(Qarīn) – what is meant by it is the opponents, those who are of the same age, because qarīn originally refers to the people of one generation.
(Ni‘matu Rabbī) – what is meant here is salvation from polytheism and denial of the Resurrection, and steadfastness in faith.
(Li-mithli hādhā) – meaning that for worldly aims and desires, hardship is not necessary, but to attain the blessings of Paradise, effort is required.
[from 62 to 68] These verses contain warnings of the Hereafter.
(Ka-annahu ru'ūsu al-shayāṭīn) – what is meant by this are the rebellious snakes with terrifying appearances, or it refers to Iblis and his progeny. Even though humans have not seen them in their true form, they are commonly known to be hideous in appearance.
(Fa-māli'ūn) – this indicates that this food does not provide the benefit of satiety, but merely fills the stomach. And from a full stomach come many hardships and diseases.
(Thumma inna lahum ‘alayhā lashawban min ḥamīm) – meaning that the heat of the water and the bitterness of the tree will both be combined, or that this water will be mixed with pus and blood from the inhabitants of Hell.
(Thumma inna marji‘ahum) – since the level for eating and drinking in Hell is separate from the level of burning in the fire (Jaḥīm), it is stated that after eating and drinking, their return will be to Hellfire.
