وَمَا لِيَ 1086 الصافات
بَلْ جَاءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ ﴿۳۷﴾ إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ ﴿۳۸﴾ وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿۳۹﴾ إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ ﴿۴۰﴾ أُولَئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَعْلُومٌ ﴿۴۱﴾ فَوَاكِهُ وَهُمْ مُكْرَمُونَ ﴿۴۲﴾ فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ ﴿۴۳﴾ عَلَى سُرُرٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ ﴿۴۴﴾ يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِكَأْسٍ مِنْ مَعِينٍ ﴿۴۵﴾ بَيْضَاءَ لَذَّةٍ لِلشَّارِبِينَ ﴿۴۶﴾ لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنْزَفُونَ ﴿۴۷﴾ وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ ﴿۴۸﴾ كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَكْنُونٌ ﴿۴۹﴾
﴾37﴿ bal jaaa'a bilhaqqi wa saddaqal mursaleen
﴾38﴿ Innakum lazaaa'iqul 'azaabil aleem
﴾39﴿ Wa maa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta'maloon
﴾40﴿ Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
﴾41﴿ Ulaaa'ika lahum rizqum ma'loom
﴾42﴿ Fa waakihu wa hum mukramoon
﴾43﴿ Fee jannaatin Na'eem
﴾44﴿ Alaa sururim mutaqaa bileen
﴾45﴿ Yutaafu 'alaihim bikaasim mim ma'een
﴾46﴿ Baidaaa'a laz zatil lish shaaribeen
﴾47﴿ Laa feehaa ghawlunw wa laa hum 'anhaa yunzafoon
﴾48﴿ Wa 'indahum qaasiraatut tarfi 'een
﴾49﴿ Ka annahunna baidum maknoon
﴾37﴿ Rather, he has brought the truth and confirmed the messengers
﴾38﴿ Indeed, you will surely taste a painful punishment
﴾39﴿ And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do
﴾40﴿ Except for the servants of Allah, the Most High, who have been saved
﴾41﴿ These are the ones who will have a known provision, endowed with honor
﴾42﴿ For them are fruits, and they will be honored
﴾43﴿ In gardens of blessings
﴾44﴿ On thrones, facing one another
﴾45﴿ Cups filled with wine will be passed around them
﴾46﴿ White and delicious for the drinkers
﴾47﴿ There will be no harm in it, nor will they suffer intoxication from it
﴾48﴿ And with them will be women restraining their glances, devoted to their husbands, with beautiful eyes
﴾49﴿ As if they were delicate, well-protected eggs
[37] This is a refutation of the deniers.
The "truth (حق)" here refers to tawḥīd (monotheism).
The word "صَدَّقَ" (affirmed, confirmed) indicates that tawḥīd is the unified religion of all the prophets (علیهم السلام).
Therefore, denying this Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) is in fact denying all the previous messengers, since the core message is the same.
[38,39] This is a warning (تخویف) and a consequence (تفریع) based on the two previously mentioned reasons for punishment:
1. Denial of tawḥīd, and
2. Denial of the Messenger (May Allah bless him and give him peace).
It shows that their fate—punishment and regret—is the direct result of these two major rejections.
[40] The meaning of "الْمُخْلَصِينَ" is: those whom Allah the Exalted has purified and chosen—
selected specifically for tawḥīd, true religion, and His own love and closeness.
They are sincere not just by their own effort, but because Allah has granted them sincerity and protection from shirk and misguidance.
[from 41 to 49] In this verse, glad tidings (بشارت) are given through the mention of fourteen specific blessings for the people of Paradise.
"رِزْقٌ مَعْلُومٌ"—A question arises here: In Surah Al-Sajdah (32:17) it says “no soul knows what delights are hidden for them,” implying that the blessings of Paradise are unknown. But here, Allah says “known provision”.
Answer: Some qualities of the blessings are known—such as their continuity and the times they are served (morning and evening), but their exact nature and full detail remain unknown.
"مُتَقَابِلِينَ"—means they will not sit with their backs to one another. This implies no anger, resentment, or discomfort between them.
Or it may mean that their seats or mounts face each other in a circle, ensuring that no one turns their back on anyone.
"غَوْلٌ"—refers to hidden harm, and includes things like headaches, stomachaches, or other illnesses that result from drink.
"وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنْزَفُونَ"—means they will not lose their minds from intoxication. This is a specific mention after a general one, because "غول" already includes this, but intoxication is a major harm, so it is highlighted.
"قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ"—the best quality of righteous women in both this world and the Hereafter: they do not turn their gaze toward anyone besides their husbands.
"بَيْضٌ مَكْنُونٌ"—compares the women of Paradise to well-protected eggs:
– It may refer to the ostrich egg, hidden from dust and dirt, with a soft yellowish tone.
– Or it may refer to an egg that has been boiled and peeled, exposing a smooth white interior.
– Or it simply refers to any protected egg, and the comparison is to the delicate balance and beauty of the female body.
Up to this point, the blessings of food, relaxation, drinks, and companionship in Paradise have been described.
