رُبَمَاٍ 610 اَلنَّحْل
يُنْبِتُ لَكُمْ بِهِ الزَّرْعَ وَالزَّيْتُونَ وَالنَّخِيلَ وَالْأَعْنَابَ وَمِنْ كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ﴿۱۱﴾ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومُ مُسَخَّرَاتٌ بِأَمْرِهِ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ ﴿۱۲﴾ وَمَا ذَرَأَ لَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ مُخْتَلِفًا أَلْوَانُهُ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً لِقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ ﴿۱۳﴾ وَهُوَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ الْبَحْرَ لِتَأْكُلُوا مِنْهُ لَحْمًا طَرِيًّا وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا مِنْهُ حِلْيَةً تَلْبَسُونَهَا وَتَرَى الْفُلْكَ مَوَاخِرَ فِيهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ ﴿۱۴﴾ وَأَلْقَى فِي الْأَرْضِ رَوَاسِيَ أَنْ تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ وَأَنْهَارًا وَسُبُلًا لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ ﴿۱۵﴾
﴾11﴿ Yumbitu lakum bihiz zar'a wazzaitoona wanna kheela wal-a'naaba wa min kullis samaraat, inna fee zaalika la Aayatal liqawminy yatafakkaroon
﴾12﴿ Wa sakkhkhara lakumul laila wannahaara wash shamsa walqamara wannujoomu musakhkharaatum bi amrih; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy ya'qiloon
﴾13﴿ Wa maa zara a lakum fil ardi mukhtalifan alwaanuh; inna fee zaalika la Aayatal liqawminy yazakkaroon
﴾14﴿ Wa Huwal lazee sakhkharal bahra litaakuloo minhu lahman tariyyanw wa tastakhrijoo minhu hilyatan talbasoonahaa wa taral fulka mawaakhira feehi wa litabtaghoo min fadlihee wa la'allakum tashkuroon
﴾15﴿ Wa alqaa fil ardi rawaasiya an tameeda bikum wa anhaaranw wa sublulal la 'allakum tahtadoon
﴾11﴿ He causes to grow for you thereby crops, olives, date palms, grapes, and every kind of fruit. Indeed, in this is a sign of His Oneness for a people who reflect
﴾12﴿ And He has subjected for you the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed, in this are many signs for a people who use reason
﴾13﴿ And He has created that which He has spread out on the earth of varying colors. Indeed, in this are signs for a people who take heed
﴾14﴿ And Allah is the One who has subjected the sea for you so that you may eat from it fresh meat and extract from it ornaments that you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it so that you may seek His bounty and so that you may be grateful
﴾15﴿ And He placed firm mountains on the earth so it would not shake with you, and rivers and paths so that you may be guided
[11] This is the eighth reason. In it, four types of plants are mentioned in detail, and others are mentioned generally. In crops, there is food; in olives, there is oil; in date palms, there is both fruit and food; and in grapes, there is both healing and fruit. All of these contain countless benefits, and for this reason, reflection upon them has been made necessary.
"لَآيَةً" is singular but carries the meaning of plural, i.e., many signs, and since their benefit returns to one general category—eating and drinking—it is mentioned in the singular form.
[12] This is the ninth reason, and the meaning of “taskhīr” (subjugation) is that Allah the Exalted has made these things subject to His command for the benefit of humans. The subjugation of the stars is mentioned separately because their benefits are not known to the general public.
"لَآيَاتٍ" is in the plural form because the benefits of these things are of various kinds, and for that reason, the plural is used. Their benefits become evident through understanding (‘aql), not requiring deep contemplation (tafakkur), which is why “ya‘qilūn” (they understand) is mentioned.
[13] This is the tenth reason, and it is connected to “the night” mentioned in the previous verse. The detailed explanation of this verse is found in verses 27 and 28 of Surah Fātir. Since the variation in colors is a single phenomenon, “لَآيَةً” is mentioned in the singular form.
[14] This is the eleventh reason. Since the previous verses mentioned the benefits of the land, this verse mentions the benefits of the sea—five of which are stated.
The subjugation of the sea means that Allah the Exalted has given humans the ability to swim in it, sail ships upon it, and benefit from it.
The meaning of “ḥilyah” is pearls and coral, as mentioned in verse 22 of Surah Ar-Rahmān. Likewise, there are shells and similar things in the sea from which necklaces are made.
[15] This is the twelfth reason. The phrase “تَمِيدَ بِكُمْ” means that the earth does not shake beneath you in an unsteady manner, because “mīd” in the Arabic language refers to irregular or unsteady movement.
The phrase “لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ” relates either to the paths (سبل) or to all three mentioned benefits together, because through the mountains, lands and regions are also made known.
This type of mention is also found in verse 31 of Surah Al-Anbiyā’.
