يَعْتَذِرُونَ 476 يونس
وَيُحِقُّ اللَّهُ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُجْرِمُونَ ﴿۸۲﴾ فَمَا آمَنَ لِمُوسَى إِلَّا ذُرِّيَّةٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ عَلَى خَوْفٍ مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِمْ أَنْ يَفْتِنَهُمْ وَإِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ لَعَالٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ ﴿۸۳﴾ وَقَالَ مُوسَى يَا قَوْمِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ آمَنْتُمْ بِاللَّهِ فَعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلُوا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُسْلِمِينَ ﴿۸۴﴾ فَقَالُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ ﴿۸۵﴾ وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ ﴿۸۶﴾
﴾82﴿ Wa yuhiqqul laahul haqqa bi Kalimaatihee wa law karihal mujrimoon
﴾83﴿ Famaaa aamana li-Moosaaa illaa zurriyyatun min qawmihee 'alaa khawfin min Fir'awna wa mala'ihim 'any yaftinahum; wa inna Fir'awna la'aalin fil ardi wa innahoo laminal musrifeen
﴾84﴿ Wa qaala Moosaa yaa qawmi in kuntum aamantum billaahi fa'alaihi tawakkalooo in kuntum muslimeen
﴾85﴿ Faqaaloo 'alal laahi tawakkalnaa Rabbanaa laa taj'alnaa fitnatal lilqawmiz zaalimeen
﴾86﴿ Wa najjinaa birahmatika minal qawmil kaafireen
﴾82﴿ And Allah will make the truth manifest through His words, even if the criminals dislike it
﴾83﴿ But none believed in Moses, except a few youths from among his people, despite their fear of Pharaoh and his chiefs, that they might persecute them. Indeed, Pharaoh was exalted in the land, and he was truly among the transgressors (polytheists)
﴾84﴿ And Moses (peace be upon him) said, 'O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then place your trust in Him alone, if you are indeed obedient
﴾85﴿ So they said, 'We have entrusted ourselves exclusively to Allah, the Exalted. O Lord, do not make us a trial (or a tool of oppression) for the wrongdoing people
﴾86﴿ And save us, through Your mercy, from the disbelieving people
[82] The meaning of "کلماتِهِ" is either the proofs of Allah the Exalted or His promise of support.
The phrase "وَيُحِقُّ اللَّهُ" is a conjunction to "فَيُبْطِلُهُ" (He will nullify it), meaning: and Allah will establish the truth.
[83] In this verse, the bravery of the companions of Musa (peace be upon him) is expressed.
"إِلَّا ذُرِّيَّةٌ" refers to a few individuals who were weak — whether men, women, children, or elders.
There are two interpretations of this verse:
First, the pronoun in "مِنْ قَوْمِهِ" refers to Musa (peace be upon him). In this case, it means the Children of Israel who had believed in Musa (peace be upon him).
Second, the pronoun refers to Pharaoh. Then the verse refers to some people from Pharaoh’s nation who had believed — such as the believing man from Pharaoh’s household, as mentioned in Surah Ghafir (Surah 40).
The verse means that these individuals believed despite the fear that Pharaoh and his people would impose severe burdens on them, but they paid no attention to that fear.
"لَعَالٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ" refers to Pharaoh’s kingship and power.
"لَمِنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ" refers to his acts of shirk, disbelief, and oppression.
[84] When they believed, oppression from the Pharaoh's people began upon them. Therefore, this verse is a consolation from Musa (peace be upon him) to the believers during a time of hardship.
This verse is also evidence that the perfection of faith and Islam lies in entrusting one's affairs to Allah the Exalted.
In this verse, both faith and Islam are combined — faith being the quality of the heart, and Islam being outward actions and obedience to the commands of Allah the Exalted.
For the final condition — “فَاصْبِرُوا وَاتَّبِعُوا” (So be patient and follow [Allah's command]) — the reward is hidden, implying a great reward from Allah.
This verse is clear proof that reliance upon Allah the Exalted is required by both faith and Islam.
[85] "لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً" — the meaning of fitnah here is either being subjected to the punishment and oppression at the hands of the wrongdoers, or it refers to trials from Allah the Exalted that serve as a test for the oppressors.
Because whenever many hardships befall the people of truth, the oppressors say: If they were truly upon the truth, then why would these punishments come upon them? — and this becomes a test.
In the phrase "رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا" there is an indication that along with reliance on Allah, making du‘a is also necessary.
[86] This verse is evidence that the best means in supplication to Allah the Exalted is His mercy.
