لَنْ تَنَالُوا 151 آل عمران

الَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِلَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا أَصَابَهُمُ الْقَرْحُ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا مِنْهُمْ وَاتَّقَوْا أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ ﴿۱۷۲﴾ الَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ النَّاسُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُوا لَكُمْ فَاخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَقَالُوا حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ ﴿۱۷۳﴾ فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٌ وَاتَّبَعُوا رِضْوَانَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ ﴿۱۷۴﴾ إِنَّمَا ذَلِكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ يُخَوِّفُ أَوْلِيَاءَهُ فَلَا تَخَافُوهُمْ وَخَافُونِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿۱۷۵﴾

﴾172﴿ Allazeenas tajaaboo lil laahi war Rasooli mim ba'di maaa asaabahumulqarh; lillazeena ahsanoo minhum wattaqaw ajrun 'azeem
﴾173﴿ Allazeena qaala lahumun naasu innan naasa qad jama'oo lakum fakhshawhum fazaadahum emaananw wa qaaloo hasbunal laahu wa ni'malwakeel
﴾174﴿ Fanqalaboo bini'matim minal laahi wa fadlil lam yamsashum sooo'unw wattaba'oo ridwaanal laah; wallaahu zoo fadlin 'azeem
﴾175﴿ Innamaa zaalikumush Shaitaanu yukhawwifu awliyaaa'ahoo falaa takhaafoohum wa khaafooni in kuntum mu'mineen

﴾172﴿ Those who responded to the command of Allah and the Messenger after being wounded—for those among them who did good and were mindful (of Allah), there is a great reward.
﴾173﴿ Those to whom people said, “Surely, the disbelievers have gathered against you, so fear them”—but it only increased them in faith, and they said, “Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.”
﴾174﴿ So they returned with a blessing from Allah and His bounty; no harm had touched them, and they followed what pleased Allah—and Allah is the Possessor of great bounty.
﴾175﴿ This is none other than Satan who frightens you of his allies—so do not fear them, but fear Me, if you are truly believers.

[172] After Uhud, Abu Sufyan (the leader of the idolaters’ army) reached the place of Ḥamrā’ al-Asad. There, he told his companions that it was necessary to utterly destroy the Muslims, so returning (to fight again) was needed. However, fear came into their hearts, so they did not go back. Instead, they sent a spy to frighten the Muslims in Madinah. When the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) heard about this, he again called the believers to strive (jihad), and despite their wounds, they responded and reached Ḥamrā’ al-Asad. The polytheists had already fled. The Companions returned with many benefits and rewards, and historians have called this event “Badr al-Thaniyyah” (the Second Badr). This verse is glad tidings for the strivers (mujahideen) and a statement of the greatness of the noble Companions. (مِنْهُمْ) – here, min is explanatory, as all these noble Companions were described with goodness and piety.
[173] These false threats were merely the propaganda of the idolaters’ spy, and the noble Companions felt no fear at all; rather, they said, “Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.” This very phrase was uttered by Abraham—peace be upon him—when he was thrown into the fire. This phrase is a means of salvation and the expression of monotheism (tawhid). (النَّاسَ) “the people” here refers to the spy. (إِنَّ النَّاسَ) “indeed, the people” here refers to the idolaters of Mecca. (فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَانًا) “so it increased them in faith”—this is proof that faith (iman) can increase, whether referring to the essence of faith or to deeds.
[174] The "blessing of Allah" refers to the reward of striving (jihad), and the "bounty" refers to the great profit they earned in trade.
[175] (يُخَوِّفُ أَوْلِيَاءَهُ) — The first meaning is: He frightens you of his allies (i.e., the disbelievers). The second meaning is: He frightens his own companions, meaning the hypocrites. (وَخَافُونِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ) — This fear, which overcomes the fear incited by Satan and leads one to strive in jihad, is a part of true faith itself.
