﴾164﴿ Laqad mannal laahu 'alal mu'mineena iz ba'asa feehim Rasoolam min anfusihim yatloo 'alaihim Aayaatihee wa yuzakkeehim wa yu'allimu humul Kitaaba wal Hikmata wa in kaanoo min qablu lafee dalaalim mubeen
﴾165﴿ Awa lammaaa asaabatkum museebatun qad asabtum mislaihaa qultum annaa haazaa qul huwa min 'indi anfusikum; innal laaha 'alaa kulli shai'in Qadeer
﴾166﴿ Wa maa asaabakum yawmal taqal jam'aani fabi iznil laahi wa liya'lamal mu'mineen
﴾167﴿ Wa liya'lamal lazeena naafaqoo; wa qeela lahum ta'aalaw qaatiloo fee sabeelil laahi awid fa'oo qaaloo law na'lamu qitaalallat taba'naakum; hum lilkufri yawma'izin aqrabu minhum lil eemaan; yaqooloona bi afwaahihim maa laisa fee quloobihim; wallaahu a'lamu bimaa yaktumoon
﴾164﴿ Surely Allah the Exalted has shown favor to the believers when He sent among them a messenger from their own generation, reciting to them the verses of Allah the Exalted, And he cleanses them and teaches them the book (Qur'an) and the understanding of religion (Sunnah), even though they were clearly in misled before
﴾165﴿ Is it when you suffer, that you inflicted double, it, So you say where did this come from? Say: This is from your own souls, indeed Allah Almighty is capable of everything
﴾166﴿ And the calamity that befell you on the day when both armies faced each other, then this is by the decree of Allah, the Exalted, and in order to reveal the believers
﴾167﴿ And in order to expose those who were hypocrites and were told to come and fight in the way of Allah Almighty or repel the enemy, they said: If we had known about the war, we would have followed the war, They are much closer to disbelief in this day than their faith, They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts, and Allah knows best what they hide
[164] In this is other quality, of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and it is an example of proof for the previous verse, that is, a prophet cannot be a traitor, because his mission is the favor of Allah Almighty, and his favor cannot be with a traitor, And he has mentioned his four duties, indicating that this is the responsibility of every Muslim leader - and this has been explained in verses (129-151) of Surah Al-Baqarah -
Note: This verse is proof that he was a human prophet, whoever denies his humanity or doubts about it, then he is denying this verse, The author of Rooh al-Ma'ani has written like this -
[165] In these three verses, he mentions the wisdom and other reasons for the defeat of Uhud to answer the question of the hypocrites, (مِنْ عِنْدِ أَنْفُسِكُمْ) (min 'indi anfusikum) Because of your actions as mentioned in verse (152) -
[166] Another reason for defeat is mentioned in this verse, (فَبِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ) (fabi iznil laahi) What is meant by this is the destiny of Allah Almighty -
[167] In these he mentioned other reasons of the defeat, (أَوِ ادْفَعُوا) (awid fa'oo) This is another cause of fighting, that increasing the army and defending is also Jihad, (لَوْ نَعْلَمُ) (law na'lamu) It means that if we had known that this Jihad was for the sake of Allah, then we would have participated with you, or it means that if we had understood the method of Jihad, then we would have accompanied you, And in this verse, four evils of the hypocrites are mentioned, (هُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَئِذٍ) (hum lilkufri yawma'izin) Sometimes a hypocrite comes very close to disbelief by saying or doing disbelief -
