تِلْكَ الرُّسُلُ 127 آل عمران

فَمَنْ تَوَلَّى بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ ﴿۸۲﴾ أَفَغَيْرَ دِينِ اللَّهِ يَبْغُونَ وَلَهُ أَسْلَمَ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ طَوْعًا وَكَرْهًا وَإِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ ﴿۸۳﴾ قُلْ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْنَا وَمَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَالْأَسْبَاطِ وَمَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَى وَعِيسَى وَالنَّبِيُّونَ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ ﴿۸۴﴾ وَمَنْ يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ ﴿۸۵﴾

﴾82﴿ Faman tawallaa ba'da zaalika fa ulaaa'ika humul faasiqoon
﴾83﴿ Afaghaira deenil laahi yabghoona wa lahooo aslama man fis samaawaati wal ardi taw'anw wa karhanw wa ilaihi yurja'oon
﴾84﴿ Qul aamannaa billaahi wa maaa unzila 'alainaa wa maaa unzila 'alaaa Ibraaheema wa Ismaa'eela wa Ishaaqa wa Ya'qooba wal Asbaati wa maaa ootiya Moosaa wa 'Eesaa wan Nabiyyoona mir Rabbihim laa nufarriqu baina ahadim minhum wa nahnu lahoo muslimoon
﴾85﴿ Wa mai yabtaghi ghairal Islaami deenan falany yuqbala minhu wa huwa fil Aakhirati minal khaasireen

﴾82﴿ So whoever turns away after this—those people are complete disobedients.
﴾83﴿ Do they seek a religion other than the religion of Allah, while everyone in the heavens and the earth has submitted to Him—willingly or unwillingly—and to Allah alone you will all be returned
﴾84﴿ Say, “We have believed in Allah, and in the Book that has been sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and to the other prophets from their Lord. We do not differentiate between any of them, and to Allah alone we are sincerely devoted in worship.”
﴾85﴿ And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.

[82] Here, “fāsiq” (disobedient) means “disbeliever,” because such a person has completely departed from the command of Allah. And the reason for mentioning this description is that the People of the Book are greatly offended by being called this name.
[83] This is a warning that whoever turns away from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace)—meaning, whoever does not accept tawhid—is seeking a religion other than the religion of Allah. “Aslama” here means following the prescribed way, so angels and believers are meant. “Taw‘an” refers to faith that is accepted without conflict, and “karhan” refers to faith accepted after conflict, or it means being subject to Allah’s decreed order: thus, angels and believers are willingly obedient, while disbelievers are obedient unwillingly. Therefore, according to the first interpretation, only the believers are intended; according to the second interpretation, disbelievers are also included in this submission.
[84] In this verse, the religion of Allah is explained—the same that was mentioned in the previous verse. The essence is that we believe in all the books and prophets, but we worship only Allah; we do not worship the prophets. Similarly, this was mentioned in verse 136 of Surah Al-Baqarah. In Surah Al-Baqarah, it was in response to the objection of the Jews, while here the purpose is to clarify the religion of Allah.
[85] In this verse, there is a strong warning and threat for anyone who claims any religion other than the religion of tawhid (monotheism) and the Sunnah, such as polytheists and innovators. The word “dīnan” indicates that they call something other than Islam a religion and seek closeness to Allah through it—just as this is the way of the Jews, Christians, and innovators. Thus, nearness to Allah cannot be attained through that. And if they do not even call it a religion, then they are either disbelievers or openly disobedient.
