إِنَّ اللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُ هَذَا صِرَاطٌ مُسْتَقِيمٌ ﴿۵۱﴾ فَلَمَّا أَحَسَّ عِيسَى مِنْهُمُ الْكُفْرَ قَالَ مَنْ أَنْصَارِي إِلَى اللَّهِ قَالَ الْحَوَارِيُّونَ نَحْنُ أَنْصَارُ اللَّهِ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَاشْهَدْ بِأَنَّا مُسْلِمُونَ ﴿۵۲﴾ رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا بِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ ﴿۵۳﴾ وَمَكَرُوا وَمَكَرَ اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ ﴿۵۴﴾

﴾51﴿ Innal laaha Rabbee wa Rabbukum fa'budooh; haazaa Siraatum Mustaqeem
﴾52﴿ Falammaaa ahassa 'Eesaa minhumul kufra qaala man ansaaree ilal laahi qaalal Hawaariyyoona nahnu ansaarul laahi aamannaa billaahi washhad bi annaa muslimoon
﴾53﴿ Rabbanaaa aamannaa bimaaa anzalta wattaba'nar Rasoola faktubnaa ma'ash shaahideen
﴾54﴿ Wa makaroo wa makaral laahu wallaahu khairul maakireen

﴾51﴿ Surely, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so dedicate your worship exclusively to Him. This is the straight path.
﴾52﴿ So when Jesus (peace be upon him) sensed clear denial from them, he said, “Who are my helpers in the cause of Allah?” The sincere disciples replied, “We are the helpers of Allah. We have believed in Allah, so bear witness that we have submitted (in action).”
﴾53﴿ Our Lord, we have believed in what You have revealed and we have followed the Messenger, so write us among those who accept and uphold the oneness (Tawhid).
﴾54﴿ And they plotted (to kill Jesus, peace be upon him), and Allah devised (a hidden plan to protect him), and Allah is the best of planners.

[51] This is the matter of the oneness of Lordship and Divinity (Tawhid al-Rububiyyah wa al-Uluhiyyah) which Jesus (peace be upon him) has explained. It is a clear proof that Jesus (peace be upon him) is not to be worshipped, and it is an indication that Tawhid (the oneness of Allah) is the straight path.
[52] Ḥawārī (Disciple) refers to a sincere friend—one whose heart is pure and who is trustworthy with secrets. In a hadith, its meaning is explained as: “And companions who follow his sunnah and emulate his commands”—that is, such companions who act upon the way of the Prophet and follow his rulings. By supporting the religion of Allah, a person draws closer to Allah, because the phrase “to Allah” was used (when he said: “Who are my helpers to Allah?”). This indicates that after the opponents’ rejection, they intended to kill Jesus (peace be upon him), and at such times, a person, within the means available, needs sincere companions—so he said this for that reason. “Aslamna (we have submitted)”—Islam, after faith, is manifested through action, and it makes one’s faith visible.
[53] This is the supplication of the disciples, and in it, they made their faith and following the Messenger a means (of seeking Allah’s favor). “Ash-shāhidīn” (the witnesses)—this is also mentioned in verse 83 of Surah al-Ma’idah. By “witnesses” it means those who bear witness to the oneness of Allah (Tawhid) and the Messengership in every era. Or, it can mean this final Ummah (the community of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him), as indicated by verse 143 of Surah al-Baqarah.
[54] What is meant by “plotting” (makr) here is calling others to misguidance, holding secret meetings, and making plans to kill Jesus (peace be upon him). And what is meant by Allah’s plotting is His hidden planning to protect Jesus (peace be upon him). “They plotted”—the pronoun refers to the disbelievers. Their plot was that, first, in their religious court, they accused him of heresy and then issued a sentence of death. Then, in the court of the Roman ruler, they accused him of rebellion and sentenced him to execution, after which they imprisoned him.
