إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ يَضْرِبَ مَثَلًا مَا بَعُوضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَيَقُولُونَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِهَذَا مَثَلًا يُضِلُّ بِهِ كَثِيرًا وَيَهْدِي بِهِ كَثِيرًا وَمَا يُضِلُّ بِهِ إِلَّا الْفَاسِقِينَ ﴿26﴾ الَّذِينَ يَنْقُضُونَ عَهْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ مِيثَاقِهِ وَيَقْطَعُونَ مَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِهِ أَنْ يُوصَلَ وَيُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ ﴿27﴾ كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَكُنْتُمْ أَمْوَاتًا فَأَحْيَاكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿28﴾
﴾26﴿Innal laaha laa yastahyeee ai yadriba masalam maa ba'oodatan famaa fawqahaa; faammal lazeena aamanoo faya'lamoona annahul haqqu mir rabbihim wa ammal lazeena kafaroo fayaqooloona maazaaa araadal laahu bihaazaa masalaa; yudillu bihee kaseeranw wa yahdee bihee kaseeraa; wa maa yudillu biheee illal faasiqeen
﴾27﴿ Allazeena yanqudoona 'ahdal laahi mim ba'di meesaaqihee wa yaqta'oona maaa amaral laahu biheee ai yoosala wa yufsidoona fil ard; ulaaa'ika humul khaasiroon
﴾28﴿Kaifa takfuroona billaahi wa kuntum amwaatan fa ahyaakum summa yumeetukum summa yuhyeekum summaa ilaihi turja'oon
﴾26﴿ Indeed, Allah does not shy away (does not refrain) from presenting an example—even of a mosquito or something greater than it. So those who believe know that it is the truth from their Lord. But those who disbelieve say, “What does Allah mean by this example?” Through it, Allah leads many astray, and He guides many through it. But none are led astray by it except the rebellious. (26)
They are the ones who break the covenant of Allah after it has been firmly established, and they sever what Allah has commanded to be joined, and they cause corruption in the land. It is they who are the true losers

﴾28﴿ How can you disbelieve in Allah (by worshipping others besides Him), while you were nothing, then Allah gave you life, then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you back to life, and to Allah alone you will be returned.
[26] This is an answer to the objection regarding the wisdom of mentioning examples, such as those previously stated ("someone who kindled a fire" and "like a rainstorm"). Their objection was that the Quran gives examples of ordinary and trivial things, thus concluding it couldn't be from Allah.
Not being shy (to give examples) is a characteristic of Allah, as established.
A mosquito is mentioned as something insignificant, and "something above it" refers to things even smaller and less significant, like a mosquito’s wing or smaller creatures like a fly.
Misguidance and guidance are solely in Allah’s control and authority; therefore, they are directly attributed to Him, while attributing them to Satan or other causes is indirect.
The "rebellious" refers to those fully immersed in disobedience and disbelief, emphasizing that their complete rebellion increases their misguidance.
Thus, the wisdom of these examples is firstly to distinguish clearly between believers and disbelievers, and secondly to highlight the differing outcomes for each group.
[27] This verse describes the qualities of the rebellious (who object to the Quran).
The covenant of Allah refers to the pledge about monotheism, strengthened by sending His messengers and scriptures. Breaking this covenant means disbelief, polytheism, and hypocrisy. The covenant of Allah is compared to a rope, which becomes useless when broken.
"What Allah has commanded to be joined" refers to accepting all messengers, books, Islam, all Allah’s commands, the sunnah of the Prophet, and fully entering into Islam. It also includes maintaining family ties. Those who accept only part of this and reject another are considered breakers of these bonds.
"What Allah has commanded" also indicates that certain relationships must be cut if Allah is displeased with them, such as relationships with polytheists and innovators.
"They cause corruption" means objecting to the Quran and preventing others from following the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace). These three sins characterize polytheists, disbelievers, and hypocrites separately, or a single sin containing all three traits.
"They are the true losers" refers to complete loss and destruction. Anyone whose actions are unrewarded suffers loss. In the Hereafter, loss means complete ruin and destruction.
[28] This is another proof for monotheism, that is, “Worship your Lord,” and in it, four universal blessings are mentioned. First, that Allah has given all of you life, so worship should be directed to Him alone. In this verse, four states of the human being are mentioned: two times of death and two times of life, as also mentioned in Surah Ghafir (verse 11). The first death refers to a person’s existence as a lifeless drop of fluid—meaning when the human was without life. The second death is the general death known to all. The first life is the life of this world, and the second life is the life of the Hereafter. Both are true forms of life in which the soul is connected to the body. Barzakh (the life of the grave) is also established through other religious evidence, but in that state, the soul is not connected to the body, so it is not considered true life; for this reason, it is not mentioned in this verse. Those who interpret this verse to include barzakh have a weak opinion. The explanation of this verse is also found in Surah Al-Mu’minun, verses 12 to 16. Since the life of the grave is not true life, the dead are not granted hearing or seeing.
