الم 7 اَلٌبَقَرَة

أُولَئِكَ عَلَى هُدًى مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ وَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ ﴿5﴾ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنْذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنْذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿6﴾ خَتَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ وَعَلَى سَمْعِهِمْ وَعَلَى أَبْصَارِهِمْ غِشَاوَةٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ ﴿7﴾ وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَقُولُ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَبِالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَمَا هُمْ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿8﴾

﴾5﴿Ulaaa'ika 'alaa hudam mir rabbihim wa ulaaa'ika humul muflihoon
﴾6﴿Innal lazeena kafaroo sawaaa'un 'alaihim 'a-anzar tahum am lam tunzirhum laa yu'minoon
﴾7﴿Khatamal laahu 'alaa quloobihim wa 'alaa sam'i-him wa 'alaaa absaarihim ghishaa watunw wa lahum 'azaabun 'azeem
﴾8﴿Wa minan naasi mainy yaqoolu aamannaa billaahi wa bil yawmil aakhiri wa maa hum bimu'mineen

﴾5﴿ The one who possesses these qualities is firmly upon guidance from their Lord, and those who have these traits are the ones who are truly successful
﴾6﴿ Indeed, those who have disbelieved (out of hostility and stubbornness), it is the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them—they will not believe
﴾7﴿ Allah has placed a barrier upon their hearts and upon their ears, and over their eyes is an unseen veil—and for them is a great punishment
﴾8﴿ And among the people are those who say, “We believe in Allah and the Last Day,” while in fact they do not believe in their hearts

[5] In this verse, the worldly reward of the believers—guidance—and the reward of the Hereafter—success—are mentioned. The successful one is the person who attains prosperity and is free from any burden, and this state exists only in Paradise. Entering Paradise from the very beginning is called success. The word “those” indicates that without possessing these qualities, neither guidance nor success can be attained.
[6] This is a warning for the disbelievers, and it mentions three of their conditions: obstinate disbelief, the uselessness of warnings for them, and their refusal to believe. These are the group upon whom wrath has descended. The intended meaning of “those who disbelieve” refers specifically to obstinate disbelievers, not general disbelievers, because the general ones may come to believe. It becomes clear that there are two types of disbelief: ignorant disbelief and obstinate disbelief. The phrase “upon them” is used instead of “upon you,” because calling them still earns the caller a reward.
[7] This is a warning for the disbelievers, and it mentions both their worldly and eternal punishment. The meaning of “sealed” is that their hearts do not reflect upon the truth (the heart here refers to the intellect), their ears do not listen to the truth, and their eyes do not see the truth—all due to their disbelief, as mentioned in Surah An-Nisa verse 155, and their deeds are described in verse 14 of Surah Al-Mutaffifin. Since Allah is the Creator and the One who decrees, He attributed this sealing to Himself. When these three faculties are not used in the path of truth, such people lose the traits of humanity. “A great punishment” refers to any severe suffering and burden, and the greatness points to its terrifying nature and its everlasting duration. This is specific to the disbelievers.
[8] From this verse to verse 14 is a warning about the hypocrites, and fifteen of their evil traits are mentioned. They are the third group. The first trait of the hypocrites is their misguidance, which is defined by their hypocrisy. “And they are not believers” means they do not affirm faith in their hearts, or they are not considered believers in the sight of Allah.
