َقَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ 1304 القمر
َ وَلَقَدْ أَنْذَرَهُمْ بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِالنُّذُرِ ﴿۳۶﴾ وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدُوهُ عَنْ ضَيْفِهِ فَطَمَسْنَا أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ ﴿۳۷﴾ وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُمْ بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُسْتَقِرٌّ ﴿۳۸﴾ فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ ﴿۳۹﴾ وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ ﴿۴۰﴾ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ النُّذُرُ ﴿۴۱﴾ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ ﴿۴۲﴾ أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أُولَئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُمْ بَرَاءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ ﴿۴۳﴾
﴾36﴿ Wa laqad anzarahum batshatanaa fatamaaraw binnuzur
﴾37﴿ Wa laqad raawadoohu 'andaifeehee fatamasnaaa a'yunahum fazooqoo 'azaabee wa nuzur
﴾38﴿ Wa laqad sabbahahum bukratan 'azaabun mustaqirr
﴾39﴿ Fazooqoo 'azaabee wa nuzur
﴾40﴿ Wa laqad yassarnal Qur'aana liz zikri fahal min muddakir
﴾41﴿ Wa laqad jaaa'a Aala Fir'awnan nuzur
﴾42﴿ Kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa kullihaa fa akhaznaahum akhza 'azeezim muqtadir
﴾43﴿ 'A kuffaarukum khairun min ulaaa'ikum am lakum baraaa'atun fiz Zubur
﴾36﴿ And indeed, he had warned them of Our punishment, but they doubted the warning
﴾37﴿ And indeed, they had sought from him regarding his guests, so We blotted out their eyes. Then taste My punishment and My warning
﴾38﴿ And indeed, there came upon them in the morning a lasting punishment
﴾39﴿ So taste My punishment and My warning
﴾40﴿ And indeed, We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there anyone who will take heed
﴾41﴿ And indeed, We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there anyone who will take heed
﴾42﴿ They denied all Our signs, so We seized them with a seizure of the Almighty, the All-Powerful
﴾43﴿ Are your disbelievers better than those [who came] before, or do you have immunity from punishment in the scriptures
[36,37,38] In these three states, the deniers are mentioned: "And indeed, He warned them" — this is to remove the excuse of the deniers.
"And the warnings" — what is meant here is the loss and dreadful outcome of the warning.
"Lasting" — the continuity and permanence of the punishment means that they were destroyed by this punishment, and after that comes the connected punishment of the grave, and then the connected punishment of Hell, which has no end.
[39,40] "And indeed, We have made [the Quran] easy" — in this repetition is a reference that each of these stories is sufficient for taking lesson and advice, and it is easy.
In "So is there any who will take heed?" — there is an indication that you should accept this advice, so that by it you may be saved from the punishment of the previous deniers.
It becomes clear that the means of salvation through the Quran is simply taking heed from it.
[41,42] In this fifth event, the destruction of Pharaoh’s people is mentioned due to their denial.
In the first verse, the establishment of proof against them is mentioned by the sending of warners.
In the second verse, the cause of the punishment and then the punishment itself is mentioned.
"With all Our signs" — what is meant by this is not the miracles mentioned in Surah Al-A'raf.
"Almighty, All-Powerful" — in this is a reference that Pharaoh claimed might and power for himself, but his claim was false, as he was overcome and destroyed.
Thus it became clear that the true possessor of might and power is Allah, the Most High.
[43,44,45] In these verses, five states of the previous deniers are mentioned, and the conclusion is that you have heard of the punishment upon the nations before you. In the present case, the reason for the coming punishment is certainly their disbelief, and there is no obstacle to its arrival.
In the first verse, two possible obstacles to punishment are negated: either they are better than the previous people, or in the revealed books of old it is mentioned that they are exempt from punishment (secure from it). But neither of these is true.
In the second verse, one supposed obstacle is mentioned in a scolding manner — that they say, "We are a large group and can take revenge on the enemy." Can this be a reason for punishment not coming upon them?
The refutation of this assumption is in the third verse, in two ways: first, defeat of their group, and second, turning their backs — meaning being rendered helpless in confrontation.
"Their group will be defeated, and they will turn their backs" — this is a worldly warning in the form of a prophecy, and this prophecy was fulfilled on the Day of Badr.
As mentioned in the hadith of Bukhari, the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) was in a tent made of leather on the Day of Badr and supplicated: "O Allah, I seek Your promise and covenant. O Allah, if this small group perishes today, You will not be worshipped after this day."
Then Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) held his hand and said, "Enough for you, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet intensely continued in supplication.
Then he came out, clad in armor, in a state of joy, and recited this verse: "Their group will be defeated, and they will turn their backs."
It is reported from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that there was a seven-year gap between the revelation of this verse and the event of Badr.
