وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ عَرَّفَهَا لَهُمْ ﴿۶﴾ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تَنْصُرُوا اللَّهَ يَنْصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ ﴿۷﴾ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَتَعْسًا لَهُمْ وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَالَهُمْ ﴿۸﴾ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُوا مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَالَهُمْ ﴿۹﴾ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَيَنْظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ دَمَّرَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلِلْكَافِرِينَ أَمْثَالُهَا ﴿۱۰﴾ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَأَنَّ الْكَافِرِينَ لَا مَوْلَى لَهُمْ ﴿۱۱﴾ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يَتَمَتَّعُونَ وَيَأْكُلُونَ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ الْأَنْعَامُ وَالنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَهُمْ ﴿۱۲﴾
﴾6﴿ Wa yudkhiluhumul jannata 'arrafahaa lahum
﴾7﴿ Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena aamanooo in tansurul laaha yansurkum wa yusabbit aqdaamakum
﴾8﴿ Wallazeena kafaroo fata' sal lahum wa adalla a'maalahum
﴾9﴿ Zaalika bi annahum karihoo maaa anzal allaahu fa ahbata a'maalahum
﴾10﴿ Afalam yaseeroo fil ardi fayanzuroo kaifa kaana 'aaqibatul lazeena min qablihim; dammaral laahu 'alaihim wa lilkaafireena amsaaluhaa
﴾11﴿ Zaalika bi annal laaha mawlal lazeena aamanoo wa annal kaafireena laa mawlaa lahum
﴾12﴿ Innal-laaha yudkhilul lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati Jannaatin tajree min tahtihal anhaaru wallazeena kafaroo yatamatta'oona wa ya'kuloona kamaa ta'kulul an'aamu wan Naaru maswan lahum
﴾6﴿ And He admits them into Paradise, having described that Paradise for them
﴾7﴿ O believers, if you help Allah, He will help you and make your steps firm
﴾8﴿ And as for the disbelievers, destruction is for them, and He has rendered their deeds in vain
﴾9﴿ This is because they have surely held evil thoughts about what Allah has revealed, so He has rendered their deeds in vain
﴾10﴿ Do they not then travel through the land and see how was the end of those before them? Allah brought destruction upon them, and for the disbelievers are similar punishments
﴾11﴿ This is because surely Allah is the Helper (Friend) of the believers, and indeed, the disbelievers have no helper
﴾12﴿ Surely, Allah admits those who believe and do righteous deeds into gardens beneath which rivers flow. But as for the disbelievers, they enjoy themselves and eat as cattle eat, and the Fire will be their dwelling
[7] After commanding fighting and mentioning the conditions of both groups, encouragement for striving in the path of Allah is given. Two states of the believers are mentioned, and with these two states come two promises from Allah the Exalted, on the condition of striving (in His cause).
“In tanṣurū Allāh” – Naṣr (support) originally means joining a group or participating collectively, and it also refers to cooperation. That is, Allah the Exalted has sent the religion and the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace), and He advances the religion. This action is from Allah the Exalted, and so cooperating in advancing the religion is called naṣr (support).
[8] This is a kind of divine support along with the believers, and it mentions two states of the disbelievers as a warning—
(وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَالَهُمْ): What is meant by their deeds are their plots and schemes in opposing the people of faith.
[9] In these two states, it mentions the disbelievers—(فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَالَهُمْ): What is meant by these deeds are disbelief, polytheism, and other vile and immoral acts.
This verse is evidence that thinking ill of, and showing aversion to, the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and its rulings is a clear cause of destruction, disgrace, and the nullification of deeds.
From this, it becomes clear that wickedness, obscenity, and other evil actions also lead to the same consequences.
[10] This is a worldly warning, and it mentions one state of the disbelievers, presenting the example of ta‘is (destruction) due to their aversion to what Allah has revealed.
(أَمْثَالُهَا) – the pronoun refers to 'the outcome', meaning the punishments that came upon the previous denying nations—similar ones will also come upon the later ones.
[11] This relates to the preceding reason and mentions one state of the believers and one state of the disbelievers—(مَوْلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا): It is narrated from Qushayri that this noble verse is a verse of great hope (joy), because Allah the Exalted did not restrict His guardianship to worshippers, those who constantly remember Him, or those who undergo spiritual discipline—rather, He simply mentioned the believers.
In accordance with this verse, the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and give him peace) made a declaration at Uhud: “We have the Guardian (Allah), and you have no guardian,” in response to the disbelievers who had said: “We have al-‘Uzzā, and you have no ‘Uzzā.”
[12] After mentioning the states of both groups, it gives glad tidings to one group and a warning to the other. It mentions one state of the believers and three states of the disbelievers—(كَمَا تَأْكُلُ الْأَنْعَامُ): The comparison lies in many aspects— in indulgence, in not distinguishing between what is lawful and unlawful, in not beginning with Bismillah, in not ending with praise and gratitude, in considering food as the sole purpose, and in eating while standing—just like cattle.
