فَمَنْ أَظْلَمَُ 1155 حٰمٓ السجدة

قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ يُوحَى إِلَيَّ أَنَّمَا إِلَهُكُمْ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ فَاسْتَقِيمُوا إِلَيْهِ وَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ وَوَيْلٌ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ ﴿۶﴾ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُمْ بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ كَافِرُونَ ﴿۷﴾ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ﴿۸﴾ قُلْ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَكْفُرُونَ بِالَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ وَتَجْعَلُونَ لَهُ أَنْدَادًا ذَلِكَ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ ﴿

﴾6﴿ Qul innamaaa ana basharum mislukum yoohaaa ilaiya annamaaa ilaahukum Ilaahunw Waahidun fastaqeemooo ilaihi wastaghfirooh; wa wailul lil mushrikeen
﴾7﴿ Allazeena laa yu'toonaz Zakaata wa hum bil-Aakhiratihum kaafiroon
﴾8﴿ Innal lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati lahum ajrun ghairu mamnoon
﴾9﴿ Qul a'innakum latakfuroona billazee khalaqal arda fee yawmaini wa taj'aloona lahooo andaadaa; zaalika Rabbul 'aalameen

﴾6﴿ It is no more than that I am a human like you; revelation is sent to me that there is none worthy of worship except the One God. So turn straight towards Him and seek forgiveness from Him, and destruction is for the polytheists
﴾7﴿ Those who do not give Zakat, and they are the deniers of the Hereafter
﴾8﴿ Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds—for them is a limitless reward
﴾9﴿ Qul a'innakum latakfuroona billazee khalaqal arda fee yawmaini wa taj'aloona lahooo andaadaa; zaalika Rabbul 'aalameen

[6] This is the response to that doubt. The essence of the answer is: at that time, your intellects and ears were not functioning in response to my words. Likewise, I did not appear to you then in a form that was unusual—such as being an angel or a jinn. Rather, I am a human like you, and humans hear each other’s words, see one another, and understand each other’s speech. (يُوحَى إِلَيَّ) – meaning, the only difference between us is that revelation is sent to me, and not to you; there is no difference in our human nature. (أَنَّمَا إِلَهُكُمْ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ) – this is the summary of all revelation: that your God is only One. This is a matter proven by both reason and transmitted knowledge, and the message is concise—so why do you not understand it?
[7] This verse mentions the evil traits of the polytheists after describing their polytheism.
(الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ) – meaning they do not perform the act by which their souls and wealth could be purified.
Here, zakat is used in its general meaning, as reported from Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).
This trait is specifically mentioned due to a particular reason: the polytheists would make vows in the name of others besides Allah, give offerings to shrine custodians, and spend in sinful causes—but they would not spend in the name of Allah for the poor.
This verse also indicates that disbelievers will be punished not only for their disbelief, but also for other sins.
Not giving zakat can occur in two ways:
1. Denying its obligation – this is disbelief.
2. Not denying it, but abandoning the act – this is not disbelief in itself, but it resembles the actions of disbelievers and aligns with their behavior.
[8] This is a glad tiding and encouragement toward righteous deeds.
(غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ) – meaning it is never-ending; it is everlasting.
And this reward refers to Paradise.
[9] After answering the question and encouraging Tawheed, its affirmation is presented with four rational proofs.
This is the first proof, in which the creation of the earth is mentioned, in the span of two days—which were Sunday and Monday.
Meaning, at that time, this was the measured duration or sequence, which is now expressed as “two days.”
