وَمَا لِيَ 1089 الصافات

وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ ﴿۷۷﴾ وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ ﴿۷۸﴾ سَلَامٌ عَلَى نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ ﴿۷۹﴾ إِنَّا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ ﴿۸۰﴾ إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿۸۱﴾ ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ ﴿۸۲﴾ وَإِنَّ مِنْ شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ ﴿۸۳﴾ إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ ﴿۸۴﴾ إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ ﴿۸۵﴾ أَئِفْكًا آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ ﴿۸۶﴾

﴾77﴿ Wa ja'alnaa zurriyyatahoo hummul baaqeen
﴾78﴿ Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen
﴾79﴿ Salaamun 'alaa Noohin fil 'aalameen
﴾80﴿ Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
﴾81﴿ Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen
﴾82﴿ Summa aghraqnal aakhareen
﴾83﴿ Wa inna min shee'atihee la Ibraaheem
﴾84﴿ Iz jaaa'a Rabbahoo bi qalbin saleem
﴾85﴿ Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maazaa ta'budoon
﴾86﴿ A'ifkan aalihatan doonal laahi tureedoon

﴾77﴿ So We made his descendants the survivors in the world
﴾78﴿ And We left for him a mention among the former people
﴾79﴿ Peace be upon Noah (peace be upon him) among the worlds
﴾80﴿ Surely, this is how We reward the righteous
﴾81﴿ Surely, he was among Our believing servants
﴾82﴿ Then We drowned the later people
﴾83﴿ And surely, Abraham (peace be upon him) was indeed among that group
﴾84﴿ When he came to his Lord with a sound heart
﴾85﴿ When he said to his father and his people, What is it that you worship
﴾86﴿ Do you desire false deities other than Allah, the Most High

[77] This is another favor upon Nūḥ (peace be upon him), in which he was also in need of Allah the Exalted. What is meant is that after Nūḥ (peace be upon him), all the people of the world are his descendants. This implies that only his offspring were on the ark, and all other people were drowned.
A similar statement appears in Sūrah Yūnus (verse 73).
The commentators have written that three of his sons—Hām, Sām, and Yāfith—were saved.
The descendants of Hām include the Sindhis, Indians, Nubians, Zanj (East Africans), Abyssinians, Copts, Berbers, and others.
The descendants of Sām include the Arabs, Persians, Romans, and the Children of Israel, among others.
The descendants of Yāfith include the Turks, Slavs, and Gog and Magog.
[from 78 to 82] In this, other blessings are mentioned.
(Salāmun) – the meaning of salām is that he is protected and safe from any evil mention among later generations.
(Innā kadhālika najzī al-muḥsinīn) – this contains a message of consolation to the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace), and it is an indication that the reason for these blessings was the excellence (iḥsān) of Nūḥ (peace be upon him). What is meant by iḥsān here is calling to the truth with sincerity.
[83] This is the second incident regarding Abraham (peace be upon him), and it is transmitted as a textual proof. In this, his servitude (‘ubudiyyah) is mentioned in two ways:
First, by striving in calling to monotheism and being patient in the face of hardships.
Second, by obeying Allah’s command to sacrifice his son.
It also mentions his dependence on Allah the Exalted for safety, glad tidings, and blessings — for he was in need of Allah the Exalted.
[84] This describes his obedience: "Salim" — free from polytheism, from the doubts of polytheism, and from inclining toward the polytheists.
He was sincere in calling to the truth — fearful of Allah the Exalted, to the extent that he would tremble out of fear, like a person who is stung and shivers.
(All these are possible interpretations.)
[85] "Mādhā" — the intent behind this questioning is to seek evidence of polytheism and to demand the attribute of divinity in their false deities.
[86] Since they were incapable of presenting any evidence or proving the attribute of divinity in their deities, Abraham (peace be upon him) said this to them.
