﴾6﴿ And those who have been given knowledge believe that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, and it guides to the path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy
﴾7﴿ And the disbelievers say (to one another), Shall we show you a man who tells you that when you have been completely reduced to dust, you will indeed be brought into a new creation
﴾8﴿ Has he fabricated a lie against Allah, or is he afflicted with madness, Rather, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are in torment and in deep error
﴾9﴿ Do they not see what is before them and what is behind them of the heavens and the earth, If We will, We can cause the earth to swallow them or let a piece of the sky fall upon them. Indeed, in this is a sign for every servant who turns to Allah in repentance

[6] This is a transmitted (scriptural) proof from the People of the Book in contrast to the Mu‘ājizīn (those who oppose), meaning they are Muṣaddiqīn (those who affirm the truth).
“Those who were given knowledge” refers to the people of monotheism, whether they are from among the People of the Book or not.
[7] In this, there is a warning against denying the Resurrection and against denying the Messenger.
[8] This too falls under warning.
The contrast between the two sentences is that the meaning of “fabrication” is that, despite having intellect and intent, they have deliberately lied against Allah, the Exalted.
And “or is there madness in him” implies that there is no intellect, so the lie was uttered without intent or will — meaning the lie was inevitable, but either deliberately invented or said without intent.
“Al-Ba‘īd” (the far-off) refers to a misguidance that has no connection to the truth, and a ruin whose end is not evident.
[9] In this verse, there is a worldly warning because in the previous verse, punishment was mentioned; in this verse, the types of punishment are described.
And what is meant by "what is before them and what is behind them" is all directions—that is, the heavens and the earth have surrounded man from every side.
(Munib) refers to a person who turns toward the truth with evidence, without opposition or prejudice, and turning (inabah) is conditional on following evidence.
