اتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَْ 1008 السجدة
وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ فَلَا تَكُنْ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِنْ لِقَائِهِ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ هُدًى لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ﴿۲۳﴾ وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ ﴿۲۴﴾ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ ﴿۲۵﴾
﴾23﴿ Wa laqad aatainaa Moosal Kitaaba falaa takun fee miryatim mil liqaaa'ihee wa ja'alnaahu hudal li Baneee Israaa'eel
﴾24﴿ Wa ja'alnaa minhum a'immatany yahdoona bi amrinaa lammaa sabaroo wa kaanoo bi
﴾25﴿ Inna rabbaka huwa yafsilu bainahum yawmal qiyaamati feemaa kaanoo feehi yakhtalifoon
﴾23﴿ And indeed, We gave Moses (peace be upon him) the Book, so do not be in doubt about receiving it, and We made it a guidance for the Children of Israel
﴾24﴿ And We made them leaders who guided by Our command when they were patient and had certainty in Our signs
﴾25﴿ Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection regarding that in which they used to differ
[23] This refers to the believing forerunners and is connected to verses 2 and 3 of the surah — meaning it confirms the truthfulness of the Qur’an and the Messenger.
"So do not be in doubt about his meeting" — there are many interpretations regarding the meaning of liqā’ihi (his meeting), its pronoun, and its possessive structure:
1. Liqā’ means meeting.
2. It could mean receiving or accepting.
3. Or it could mean taking (receiving).
As for the possessive (the pronoun in liqā’ihi):
1. It could be connected to the object.
2. Or to the subject — referring either to Musa (peace be upon him), or to the Book, or to the Lord.
Detailed interpretations include:
1. So do not be in doubt about Musa (peace be upon him) accepting this Book.
2. So do not be in doubt about your receiving a Book like this.
3. So do not be in doubt about your facing trials similar to those of Musa (peace be upon him).
4. So do not be in doubt about your meeting with Musa (peace be upon him) during the night of Mi‘rāj — meaning that the vision was entirely true, and this meeting was with their souls, shaped in the form of their bodies, except for ‘Isa (peace be upon him).
5. So do not be in doubt about your meeting with your Lord.
[24] In this verse, the nation of Musa (peace be upon him) is mentioned, in whom the mission of calling and conveying the message was active.
This is an indication that in the nation of the Final Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace), the mission of invitation will also continue.
The word "a’immah" (leaders) in this verse is general — it includes the prophets of Bani Isra’il as well as their scholars, similar to what is mentioned in Surah Al-Anbiya (21:73).
This verse also serves as evidence that leadership in religion is attained through patience and certainty (as Ibn Kathir has said).
With patience, one restrains desires, and with certainty, doubts are removed.
[25] In this verse, it is mentioned that differences arose within the nation of Musa (peace be upon him).
This implies that such differences will also arise in this nation, as mentioned in the hadith: "My ummah will split into seventy-three sects."
