اتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَْ 988 الروم
مِنَ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا شِيَعًا كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ ﴿۳۲﴾ وَإِذَا مَسَّ النَّاسَ ضُرٌّ دَعَوْا رَبَّهُمْ مُنِيبِينَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا أَذَاقَهُمْ مِنْهُ رَحْمَةً إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِنْهُمْ بِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُونَ ﴿۳۳﴾ لِيَكْفُرُوا بِمَا آتَيْنَاهُمْ فَتَمَتَّعُوا فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿۳۴﴾ أَمْ أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانًا فَهُوَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِمَا كَانُوا بِهِ يُشْرِكُونَ ﴿۳۵﴾ وَإِذَا أَذَقْنَا النَّاسَ رَحْمَةً فَرِحُوا بِهَا وَإِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ إِذَا هُمْ يَقْنَطُونَ ﴿۳۶﴾ أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَقْدِرُ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿۳۷﴾
﴾32﴿ Minal lazeena farraqoo deenahum wa kaanoo shiya'an kullu hizbim bimaa ladaihim farihoon
﴾33﴿ Wa izaa massan naasa durrun da'aw Rabbahum muneebeena ilaihi summa izaaa azaqahum minhu rahmatan izaa fareequm minhum be Rabbihim yushrikoon
﴾34﴿ Li yakfuroo bimaaa aatainaahum; fatamatta'oo fasawfa ta'lamoon
﴾35﴿ Am anzalnaa 'alaihim sultaanan fahuwa yatakallamu bimaa kaanoo bihee yushrikoon
﴾36﴿ Wa izaaa azaqnan naasa rahmatan farihoo bihaa wa in tusibhum sayyi'atum bimaa qaddamat aydeehim izaa hum yaqnatoon
﴾37﴿ Awalam yaraw annal laaha yabsutur rizqa limai yashaaa'u wa yaqdir; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy yu'minoon
﴾32﴿ Meaning, those who have split up their religion and become sects, each group pleased with what they have
﴾33﴿ And when a duty is given to some people, they call upon their Lord sincerely turning to Him. But when He grants them comfort from Himself, suddenly a group among them associates partners with their Lord
﴾34﴿ Eventually, they are ungrateful for the blessings we have given them. So enjoy (the pleasures of this world), for soon you will know
﴾35﴿ Have we sent down to them an authority which justifies their associating others with Allah
﴾36﴿ And when we let humans taste the happiness of the world, they become arrogant about it, and if trouble befalls them because of the deeds they have sent ahead, at that time, they become despondent
﴾37﴿ Do they not see that Allah expands the provision for whom He wills and restricts it, Indeed, in this are many signs for a people who believe
[32] From here, eight evil traits of the polytheists are mentioned, which are the causes for the command: (wa lā takūnū mina al-mushrikīn)—“Do not be among the polytheists.”
The meaning of tafriq al-dīn (dividing the religion) is that each group made up their own separate version of the religion—meaning they invented beliefs and practices from their own desires and labeled them as “religion.”
(Wa kānū shiyaʿan)—"and they became sects"—refers to their mutual alliance and group partisanship, which is fanaticism.
Their joy in their own version of religion is because they consider it to be the truth and a source of reward, and for that they sacrifice their wealth and lives.
[33] This is a rebuke, and in it, one characteristic of the polytheists is mentioned.
[34] In this, another of their traits is mentioned: ingratitude for the blessings of Allah Most High.
[35] This too is a rebuke, and it mentions another trait of the polytheist: that they have no revealed proof for their shirk alongside other polytheists.
It becomes clear that their shirk is based purely on blind imitation.
[36] This too is a rebuke, and in it two traits of the polytheists are mentioned.
This type of disbelieving polytheist is more severe in disbelief than the previous ones, because he does not remember Allah Most High in any situation.
[37] This is a rational proof of monotheism and a refutation of the human being whose condition was mentioned in the previous verse—meaning that both ease and hardship come from Allah Most High.
So why do they show arrogance during ease and despair during hardship?
