اتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَْ 984 الروم

وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَعَشِيًّا وَحِينَ تُظْهِرُونَ ﴿۱۸﴾ يُخْرِجُ الْحَيَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَيُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَيِّ وَيُحْيِي الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَكَذَلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ ﴿۱۹﴾ وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ إِذَا أَنْتُمْ بَشَرٌ تَنْتَشِرُونَ ﴿۲۰﴾

﴾18﴿ Wa lahul hamdu fis samaawaati wal ardi wa 'ashiyyanw wa heena tuzhiroon
﴾19﴿ Yukhrijul haiya minal maiyiti wa yukhrijul maiyita minal haiyi wa yuhyil arda ba'da mawtihaa; wa kazaalika tukhrajoon
﴾20﴿ Wa min Aayaatiheee an khalaqakum min turaabin summa izaaa antum basharun tantashiroon

﴾18﴿ And His is the praise (of being God) in the heavens and the earth, and at other times and when you advance
﴾19﴿ Allah Almighty brings out the living from the dead and the dead from the living, and revives the earth after it has dried up; and thus will you be brought forth
﴾20﴿ And among the signs of the oneness and power of Allah Almighty is that He initiated your creation from dust, then you became humans, widely dispersed

[19] From this verse up to verse 42 is the second section. In it, eleven rational arguments are presented to prove the oneness of Allah, and these serve as evidences for the main claim of the surah.
Examples are also given to refute polytheism. Again, the foundational principles for establishing the surah’s main claim are mentioned, and among them, seven evils of the polytheists are highlighted.
Their warnings are addressed, and the difference between ribā (usury) and zakāh (charity) is clarified. Worldly intimidation and its causes are also mentioned.
This verse (verse 19) is a rational proof for affirming the oneness of Allah, which was mentioned in the previous verses. In this and the following arguments, the changes in worldly conditions are cited—indicating the affirmation of the surah’s claim.
In this verse, three states of transformation are mentioned, and in the fourth transformation, the mention of the Day of Judgment is made.
[20] This is a rational proof for both purposes. (Min turāb) refers to the creation of Adam (peace be upon him) from soil, and the meaning of (khalaqakum) could be the creation of your origin, or it may refer to every individual human being—since every human is created from a drop of fluid, which originates from food, and food originates from the earth.
Benefit: At the beginning of this surah, seven verses begin with wa min āyātihi (“And among His signs”). One reason for this is that these proofs are very clear in establishing the intended claim. The second reason is that each of these signs actually contains many layers of evidence.
