قَدْ أَفْلَحَْ 829 المؤمنون
أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُوا رَسُولَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَهُ مُنْكِرُونَ ﴿۶۹﴾ أَمْ يَقُولُونَ بِهِ جِنَّةٌ بَلْ جَاءَهُمْ بِالْحَقِّ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَارِهُونَ ﴿۷۰﴾ وَلَوِ اتَّبَعَ الْحَقُّ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ لَفَسَدَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ بَلْ أَتَيْنَاهُمْ بِذِكْرِهِمْ فَهُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِهِمْ مُعْرِضُونَ ﴿۷۱﴾ أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ خَرْجًا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ ﴿۷۲﴾ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ ﴿۷۳﴾ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ عَنِ الصِّرَاطِ لَنَاكِبُونَ ﴿۷۴﴾
﴾69﴿ Am lam ya'rifoo Rasoolahum fahum lahoo munkiroon
﴾70﴿ Am yaqooloona bihee jinnnah; bal jaaa'ahum bilhaqqi wa aksaruhum lil haqqi kaarihoon
﴾71﴿ Wa lawit taba'al haqqu ahwaaa'ahum lafasadatis samaawaatu wal ardu wa man feehinnn; bal atainaahum bizikrihim fahum 'an zikrihim mu'ridoon
﴾72﴿ Am tas'aluhum kharjan fakharaaju Rabbika khairunw wa Huwa khairur raaziqeen
﴾73﴿ Wa innaka latad'oohum ilaa Siraatim Mustaqeem
﴾74﴿ Wa innnal lazeena laa yu'minoona bil Aakhirati 'anis siraati lanaakiboon
﴾69﴿ Have they not recognized their own Messenger, so they deny him as unfamiliar
﴾70﴿ Do they say that he is possessed? Rather, he has brought them the truth, but most of them dislike the truth
﴾71﴿ And if the truth had followed their desires, the heavens and the earth and all that is in them would surely have been corrupted. But We have brought them their reminder, yet they turn away from their reminder
﴾72﴿ Do you ask them for a reward? But the reward of your Lord is better, and He is the best of providers
﴾73﴿ And indeed, you invite them to the straight path
﴾74﴿ And indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are surely deviating from the straight path
[69] This is a warning and a description of one of the qualities of the deniers, meaning they show hostility and opposition, because they already knew of the truthfulness and trustworthiness of this Messenger beforehand. Yet, out of enmity, they do not accept it. That is, the “am” here is an interrogative used for denial.
[70] This too is a warning, and it mentions two qualities of the deniers: attributing madness to the Prophet, and considering the truth to be wrong due to envy and blind imitation. This is mentioned similarly in the Tafsir of Qurtubi.
[71] This too is a warning presented in the form of reasoning. The point is: if the truth were to conform to their desires—meaning, if the false deities they have created besides Allah were considered true, and likewise, if the innovations and superstitions they have invented were accepted as religion—then this would lead to the ruin and destruction of the world. This is because shirk (polytheism) and corruption cause disorder in the world, as mentioned in Surah Al-Anbiya (21:24). And in this verse, one of their qualities is mentioned: turning away from the remembrance of Tawhid (the Oneness of Allah).
[72] This is a response to a misconception. That is, if it is said: could it be that the obstacle to the faith of these deniers comes from the Prophet's side, such as him demanding a reward? Then the answer is given that the Prophet did not ask them for any payment. The difference between kharj and kharāj is that kharj refers to a payment that is fixed and set, whereas kharāj is a reward that comes through generosity and giving. For this reason, in relation to Allah the Exalted, the term kharāj is used.
[73] This is a response to another misconception. If it is said that the purpose of this Prophet’s call must be false because they do not accept it, the answer is given that his purpose is indeed true. And in this, the truthfulness of the Messenger is affirmed.
[74] In this verse as well, there is a warning, and their final disgraceful trait is mentioned. Thus, it becomes clear that there is no obstacle or deficiency from the side of the Prophet; rather, the deficiency lies with them. And in the verse, there is an indication that disbelief in the Hereafter is the cause of turning away from the straight path.
