[8] This is the sixth attribute, and "trusts" includes all religious and worldly responsibilities. The meaning of "covenant" refers to matters that a person obligates upon himself, whether they are the rights of Allah or the rights of people.
[9] This is the seventh attribute, and what is meant by "preservation" includes all the conditions and pillars, as well as consistency in prayer, performing it according to the Sunnah, and avoiding things that invalidate or are disliked in it.
Humility is an internal and spiritual attribute, while preservation is an external attribute.
[10,11] This is the explanation of success that was mentioned in the first verse, and what is meant by "inheritance" is entitlement—just as an heir is entitled to an inheritance, likewise, they are entitled to Paradise.
[12] This is the first internal rational proof. The human referred to is Adam (peace be upon him). What is meant by “sulālah min ṭīn” is soft clay which, when taken in the hand and squeezed, oozes out from between the fingers—this oozing substance is called sulālah.
[13,14] “Ja‘alnāhu” — the pronoun refers to the children of Adam (peace be upon him), as indicated by verse 8 of Surah As-Sajdah. Six stages of the general creation of human beings have been mentioned—similar to what has been stated in Surah Al-Hajj. What is meant by “the last creation” is all the stages from the blowing of the soul until death.
“Fatabāraka Allāh” is the central claim of the Surah, and its meaning has already been explained in Surah Al-A‘rāf.
“Ahsan” means firm and strong, or khalq (creation) means forming a shape, and ahsanu means beautiful.
[15] This is a general ruling; it also includes the prophets and the saints.
