﴾74﴿ They did not appraise Allah with the appraisal due to Him. Indeed, Allah is All-Powerful, All-Mighty
﴾75﴿ Allah chooses messengers from among the angels and from among humans. Indeed, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing
﴾76﴿ Allah knows whatever is before them and whatever is behind them, and to Allah all matters will be returned
[74] This is a rebuke to the polytheists, who seek their needs from weak created beings and have forgotten Allah.
As a result, they fail to recognize Allah’s true worth and do not understand His attributes.
It is also a refutation of the polytheists’ criticism of the monotheists, when they say, “You do not honor the saints and elders.”
The response is: “It is you who do not honor Allah as He deserves to be honored.”
[75] This is a response to the claim of the polytheists, who say: “We seek our needs from these saints and elders because Allah has given them such powers.”
The essence of the reply is: when Allah grants a high rank to any of His creation, it is in the form of prophethood (risālah).
And a rank higher than prophethood—such as being divine or sharing in Allah’s authority—is something Allah does not give to anyone.
[76] This is a supporting proof for the previous point: that Allah gives prophethood only to those whose state He fully knows.
He is also fully aware of their servitude and weakness, and for this reason, He does not associate anyone with Himself.
