ْقَالَ أَلَمْ 736 طٰهٰ
اذْهَبْ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَى ﴿۲۴﴾ قَالَ رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي ﴿۲۵﴾ وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي ﴿۲۶﴾ وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي ﴿۲۷﴾ يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي ﴿۲۸﴾ وَاجْعَلْ لِي وَزِيرًا مِنْ أَهْلِي ﴿۲۹﴾ هَارُونَ أَخِي ﴿۳۰﴾ اشْدُدْ بِهِ أَزْرِي ﴿۳۱﴾ وَأَشْرِكْهُ فِي أَمْرِي ﴿۳۲﴾
﴾24﴿ Izhab ilaa Fir'awna innahoo taghaa
﴾25﴿ Qaala Rabbish rah lee sadree
﴾26﴿ Wa yassir leee amree
﴾27﴿ Wahlul 'uqdatan milli saanee
﴾28﴿ Yafqahoo qawlee
﴾29﴿ Waj'al lee wazeeran min ahlee
﴾30﴿ Haaroona akhee
﴾31﴿ Ushdud biheee azree
﴾32﴿ Wa ashrik hu feee amree
﴾24﴿ Go to Pharaoh; indeed, he has transgressed exceedingly
﴾25﴿ He said, O my Lord, expand my chest for me
﴾26﴿ And make my task easy for me
﴾27﴿ "And loosen the knot from my tongue
﴾28﴿ So that they may understand my speech
﴾29﴿ And appoint for me a helper from my family
﴾30﴿ Harun (Aaron), my brother
﴾31﴿ Strengthen my back through him
﴾32﴿ And make him share in my task
[24] In this verse, Pharaoh is specifically mentioned, even though the prophethood of Musa (peace be upon him) was for his entire people.
This specific mention is because Pharaoh had opposed every caller to the truth and had prevented his people from hearing the truth—and this was his transgression.
(Innahū ṭaghā)—this is a specific reason for sending the Messenger.
[25] From this verse begins the second section, continuing until verse 43. In this passage, Musa (peace be upon him) makes six requests in his supplication, and the acceptance of these prayers from Allah the Most High is through His grace and kindness.
The previous favors are briefly mentioned, and then Musa (peace be upon him) is commanded to go to Pharaoh with courage.
Note: The meaning of “expanding the chest” is the granting of patience and steadfastness at the time of trials in the mission of prophethood. It also includes the removal of doubts and confusions, and it indicates the removal of obstacles in the path of delivering the message.
[26] In this verse is the second supplication, and the intention behind it is to attain both outward and inward means by which the task of prophethood becomes easier.
[27,28] In these verses, the third supplication is mentioned along with its benefit. The meaning of the "knot on the tongue" refers either to an actual physical impediment in his speech or to the tongue becoming tied due to awe and reverence.
This clarity in speech is essential for one who is calling others to the truth.
[29,30] In these verses, the fourth supplication regarding his brother is mentioned, and this shows the utmost kindness and loyalty of one brother to another.
The meaning of "wazīr" is a partner in the burden of prophethood—since the burden of prophethood is heavy, a close helper is needed.
In the words "min ahli" (from my family) and "akhī" (my brother), there is an indication that such a companion should be someone upon whom one can rely and trust.
[31,32] This is the fifth and sixth supplication. In it, the brother is specifically included in the prayer, because one's strength becomes firm and steady through the support of a brother.
