سُبْحَانَ الذِيٍ 700 الکهف
قَالَ إِنَّكَ لَنْ تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِيَ صَبْرًا ﴿۶۷﴾ وَكَيْفَ تَصْبِرُ عَلَى مَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِ خُبْرًا ﴿۶۸﴾ قَالَ سَتَجِدُنِي إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ صَابِرًا وَلَا أَعْصِي لَكَ أَمْرًا ﴿۶۹﴾ قَالَ فَإِنِ اتَّبَعْتَنِي فَلَا تَسْأَلْنِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى أُحْدِثَ لَكَ مِنْهُ ذِكْرًا ﴿۷۰﴾
﴾67﴿ Qaalaa innaka lan tastatee'a ma'iya sabraa
﴾68﴿ Wa kaifa tasbiru 'alaa maa lam tuhit bihee khubraa
﴾69﴿ Qaala satajiduneee in shaa 'al laahu saabiranw wa laaa a'see laka amraa
﴾70﴿ Qaala fa init taba'tanee falaa tas'alnee 'an shai'in hattaaa uhdisa laka minhu zikraa
﴾67﴿ He said, Indeed, you will never be able to have patience with me
﴾68﴿ And how can you have patience for what you do not encompass in knowledge
﴾69﴿ [Moses] said, "You will find me, if Allah wills, patient, and I will not disobey you in any matter
﴾70﴿ [Khidr] said, If you follow me, then do not ask me about anything until I mention to you its explanation
[67] This experience of al-Khiḍr (peace be upon him) was from the knowledge of the unseen—that is, he knew that the actions he performed by the revelation of Allah the Exalted would outwardly appear, at first glance, to contradict the Sharīʿah. Therefore, Moses (peace be upon him) naturally objected.
This contains an indication that if a teacher’s actions outwardly appear to contradict the Sharīʿah, it is necessary to question him about them.
[68] In this verse, the reason and explanation for the previous verse is mentioned—that is, whoever does not have knowledge of something cannot remain patient over it.
[69] Moses (peace be upon him), outwardly, promised to be patient and attached it with in shā’ Allāh (if Allah wills). This indicates that it is not permissible for a student to disobey the teacher.
[70] This indicates that a teacher can rightfully place appropriate conditions upon the student. It is also a general rule for all learners that they must wait for the teacher to complete his words—interrupting or speaking in the middle of his explanation is not appropriate.
