سُبْحَانَ الذِيٍ 663 بنی اسرائیل

قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَكَ هَذَا الَّذِي كَرَّمْتَ عَلَيَّ لَئِنْ أَخَّرْتَنِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا ﴿۶۲﴾ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَمَنْ تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ جَزَاؤُكُمْ جَزَاءً مَوْفُورًا ﴿۶۳﴾ وَاسْتَفْزِزْ مَنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ مِنْهُمْ بِصَوْتِكَ وَأَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِمْ بِخَيْلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ وَشَارِكْهُمْ فِي الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَوْلَادِ وَعِدْهُمْ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا ﴿۶۴﴾

﴾62﴿ Qaala ara'aytaka haazal lazee karramta 'alaiya la'in akhartani ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati la ahtanikanna zurriyyatahooo illaa qaleelaa
﴾63﴿ Qaalaz hab faman tabi'aka minhum fa inna Jahannama jazaaa'ukum jazaaa'am mawfooraa
﴾64﴿ Wastafziz manis tata'ta minhum bisawtika wa ajlib 'alaihim bikhailika wa rajilika wa shaarik hum fil amwaali wal awlaadi wa 'idhum; wa maa ya'iduhumush Shaitaanu illaa ghurooraa

﴾62﴿ He said, Tell me, is this the one whom You have honored above me, If You give me respite until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely bring his descendants under my control, except for a few
﴾63﴿ Allah said, Go, for whoever follows you among them, indeed Hell will be your recompense—an ample recompense
﴾64﴿ And incite, with your voice, whoever you can among them, and mobilize against them your cavalry and your infantry, and share with them in wealth and children, and promise them. But Satan does not promise them except deception

[62] In this verse, there is an indication that Iblis became jealous because of the honor Allah the Exalted gave to Adam (peace be upon him).
(لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ) comes from ḥanak, which means to uproot something.
So the first meaning is: “I will uproot his offspring,” meaning I will lead them into shirk and disbelief.
The second meaning relates to placing a bridle in a horse’s mouth, which is meant to restrain it.
Therefore, the meaning becomes: “I will prevent his offspring from monotheism (tawhid).”
[63] In this verse, there is a warning of the Hereafter for Iblis and his followers.
(اذْهَبْ) indicates that he was given respite, similar to what is mentioned in verse (15) of Surah al-A‘raf, verse (37) of Surah al-Hijr, and verse (80) of Surah Sad.
(مَوْفُورًا) means abundant, or it can be interpreted as a passive participle, meaning complete, with nothing lacking in it.
This is the kind of punishment given to disbelievers and polytheists, because the punishment for a believer may be reduced due to Allah’s pardon and forgiveness.
Similar meanings are found in verse (18) of Surah al-A‘raf and verse (85) of Surah Sad.
[64] In this verse, four methods by which Iblis misleads people are mentioned:
The first method is deceiving people through the voice of Iblis.
The meaning of “voice” is every caller who invites to disobedience of Allah the Exalted, and this includes shirk, disbelief, innovation, music, and the like.
This interpretation is chosen by Ibn Jarir.
The second method: (وَأَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِمْ بِخَيْلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ) – This means: “Use all your schemes to mislead them.”
Included in this are all those who ride or walk in disobedience to Allah the Exalted.
This explanation is narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and from Mujahid.
The third method: (وَشَارِكْهُمْ فِي الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَوْلَادِ) – This means: "Share with them in their wealth and children."
Sharing in wealth refers to dedicating wealth to other than Allah, such as spending it in shirk, innovation, superstitions, prohibitions not ordained by Allah, and earning wealth through unlawful means.
Sharing in children includes attributing children to other than Allah, like saying, “So-and-so granted me this child,” and naming them names like Nabi Bakhsh, Abdul Harith, Abdul ‘Uzza, Abdul Rasool, Banda Ali, Peer Bakhsh, and so on.
It also includes teaching children the ways of disbelief and shirk, and making them resemble disbelievers in dress and appearance.
The fourth method: (وَعِدْهُمْ) – This means promising them reward and success in their acts of shirk and innovation.
