وَمَا أُبَرِّئٍُ 559 الرعد

وَهُوَ الَّذِي مَدَّ الْأَرْضَ وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنْهَارًا وَمِنْ كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ جَعَلَ فِيهَا زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ يُغْشِي اللَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ﴿۳﴾ وَفِي الْأَرْضِ قِطَعٌ مُتَجَاوِرَاتٌ وَجَنَّاتٌ مِنْ أَعْنَابٍ وَزَرْعٌ وَنَخِيلٌ صِنْوَانٌ وَغَيْرُ صِنْوَانٍ يُسْقَى بِمَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَنُفَضِّلُ بَعْضَهَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ فِي الْأُكُلِ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ ﴿۴﴾

﴾3﴿ Wa Huwal lazee maddal arda wa ja'ala feehaa rawaasiya wa anhaaraa; wa min kullis samaraati ja'ala feehaa zawjain ithnayn; Yughshil lailan nahaar; inna fee zaalika la aayaatil liqawminy yatafakkaroon
﴾4﴿ Wa fil ardi qita'um muta jaawiraatunw wa jannaatum min a'naabinw wa zar'unw wa nakheelun sinwaanunw wa ghairu sinwaaniny yusqaa bimaaa'inw waahid; wa nufaddilu ba'dahaa 'alaa ba'din fil-ukul; inna fee zaalika la aayaatil liqawminy ya'qiloon

﴾3﴿ And Allah, the Exalted, is the One who spread the earth and created in it firm mountains, seas, and every kind of fruit. He created in it two pairs and covers the night with the day. Indeed, in this are many signs of monotheism for a people who reflect
﴾4﴿ And on the earth are neighboring plots, and there are gardens of grapevines, cultivated fields, and dense and single palm trees, all watered with the same water. Yet, We make some of them excel others in taste. Indeed, in this are signs for a people who have understanding

[3] In this verse, there is a rational, lower-level (worldly) proof.
And five aspects of the power of Allah the Exalted have been mentioned.
(زَوْجَيْنِ) – The intended meaning is that in all plants, there are pairs, i.e., male and female.
A second interpretation is that “pairs” refers to contrasting types – such as sweet and sour, large and small seeds, moist and dry, black and white, green and red, etc.
(لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ) – In the previous verse, only tangible things were mentioned, but in this verse, along with the tangible, the intangible (intellectual concepts) are also included.
The pairing of fruits and the alternation of night and day require contemplation, so at the end of this verse, "they reflect" was mentioned – because reflection involves deriving intellectual meanings from sensory experiences.
[4] This is the third rational proof, in which five aspects of Allah the Exalted’s power are mentioned.
(مُتَجَاوِرَاتٌ) – This means different plots of land that are adjacent to each other—fertile land, barren land, and those with various colors.
(صِنْوَانٌ) – This is the plural of a palm tree that has many branches growing from one root.
And non-ṣinwān is the one that grows as a single trunk from the root without multiple branches.
(وَنُفَضِّلُ بَعْضَهَا عَلَى بَعْضٍ فِي الْأُكُلِ) – This means the soil is the same, and the water is the same, yet the fruits are different.
This is a clear refutation of the people who believe in nature and materialism—because if creation was solely due to nature and matter, there would be no difference in the fruits.
Thus, it becomes evident that the Creator is Allah the Exalted.
(لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ) – Since the adjacency of land, the differences in orchards, farms, branches, and tastes, all despite the land and water being the same, are matters that require intellect, the phrase “for a people who use reason” is used here.
