وَمَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ 537 یوسف

وَقَالَ الْمَلِكُ إِنِّي أَرَى سَبْعَ بَقَرَاتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعَ سُنْبُلَاتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَاتٍ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ أَفْتُونِي فِي رُؤْيَايَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ لِلرُّؤْيَا تَعْبُرُونَ ﴿۴۳﴾ قَالُوا أَضْغَاثُ أَحْلَامٍ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَأْوِيلِ الْأَحْلَامِ بِعَالِمِينَ ﴿۴۴﴾ وَقَالَ الَّذِي نَجَا مِنْهُمَا وَادَّكَرَ بَعْدَ أُمَّةٍ أَنَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِتَأْوِيلِهِ فَأَرْسِلُونِ ﴿۴۵﴾

﴾43﴿ Wa qaalal maliku inneee araa sab'a baqaraatin simaaniny ya'kuluhunna sab'un 'ijaafunw wa sab'a sumbulaatin khudrinw wa ukhara yaabisaat; yaaa ayuhal mala-u aftoonee fee ru'yaaya in kuntum lirru'yaa ta'buroon
﴾44﴿ Qaalooo adghaasu ahlaa minw wa maa nahnu bi ta'weelil ahlaami bi'aalimeen
﴾45﴿ Wa qaalal lazee najaa minhumaa waddakara ba'da ummatin ana unabbi'ukum bi ta'weelihee fa-arsiloon

﴾43﴿ And the king said, Surely, I have seen (in a dream) seven fat cows being eaten by seven lean cows, and seven green ears (of grain) and others (seven) dry. O people of the court, interpret for me my dream, if you are interpreters of dreams
﴾44﴿ He said these are confused dreams, and we are not knowledgeable in interpreting such dreams
﴾45﴿ And the one who had been released from prison among the two remembered after a while and said, 'I will inform you of the interpretation of this dream, so send me forth

[43] From this verse until verse (57) is the sixth stage. In this stage, the dream of the king is mentioned, followed by the inability of others to interpret his dream, and then Yusuf’s (peace be upon him) interpretation along with his proposed solution.
Then, the chastity of Yusuf (peace be upon him) is affirmed through the confession of all the women and the acknowledgment of Zulaikha in front of the king.
After that, Yusuf (peace be upon him) is released from prison and is appointed by the king, with honor, to oversee the treasury and resources of Egypt.
In verse (43), the king’s dream is described, and he seeks an interpretation from his advisors.
Since famine relates to both grain and livestock, the king saw both in his dream.
The word (تَعْبُرُونَ) refers to dream interpretation, as if one is crossing from the outward image to the inner meaning. The term ta’wīl (interpretation) here is used in a general sense.
[44] In this verse, the inability of the king’s advisors to interpret the dream is mentioned.
They tried to console the king by saying that his dream does not require interpretation, because it is confused and meaningless.
(الْأَحْلَامِ) refers to false or common dreams with no real significance.
Allah Most High caused these people to fail in interpreting the king’s dream so that they would eventually turn to Yusuf (peace be upon him) for its interpretation.
[45] In this verse, the cupbearer is mentioned—the one who had forgotten the message of Yusuf (peace be upon him). Now he remembered, so he intended to meet Yusuf (peace be upon him) personally and seek the interpretation of the king’s dream from him.
