وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فَإِنَّ حِزْبَ اللَّهِ هُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ ﴿۵۶﴾ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا دِينَكُمْ هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَالْكُفَّارَ أَوْلِيَاءَ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿۵۷﴾ وَإِذَا نَادَيْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ اتَّخَذُوهَا هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ ﴿۵۸﴾

﴾56﴿ Wa mai yatawallal laaha wa Rasoolahoo wallazeena aamanoo fa inna hizbal laahi humul ghaaliboon
﴾57﴿ Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo laa tattakhizul lazeenat takhazoo deenakum huzuwanw wa la'ibam minal lazeena ootul Kitaaba min qablikum walkuffaara awliyaaa'; wattaqul laaha in kuntum muu'mineen
﴾58﴿ Wa izaa naadaitum ilas Salaatit takhazoohaa huzu wan'w wa la'ibaa; zaalika biannnahum qawmul laa ya'qiloon

﴾56﴿ And whoever loves Allah Almighty and His Messenger and the believers, then the group of Allah Almighty is victorious
﴾57﴿ O believers: do not get those who take your religion as a joke and play Of those who were given the Book before you, and (other) disbelievers as friend, And fear Allah, the Most High, if you are believers
﴾58﴿ And when you call for prayer, they take it for mockery and play, this is because they are a people who do not have reason

[56] This glad tidings is for the people described in the preceding verse: "Whoever takes Allah as an ally." What is meant by taking Allah as an ally (yatawalla Allah) is to uphold obedience to Allah the Exalted and to support His Messenger and the believers.
"Then indeed, the party of Allah" — the word ḥizb (party) originally refers to a group of people who gather together during times of hardship, and it is used for a group that is united and steadfast. Therefore, it refers to a specific and special group or community.
[57] This begins the mention of the reasons for prohibiting taking disbelievers as allies. In this verse, the first reason is mentioned: they mock the religion of Islam and treat it as a game — "as a mockery and a game (huzuwan wa la‘iban)."
The word huz’ (mockery) originally implies belittlement — meaning they insult the religion through ridicule and laughter. La‘ib (game/play) means they consider it a meaningless occupation, like playing games. Thus, the intended meaning is a group that mocks and treats the entire religion as mere play and amusement.
"From among those who..." — this explains the earlier reference to those by specifying the two groups of disbelievers.
[58] This is connected to the previous phrase "they took [it] as mockery" and presents the second reason for the prohibition, which is more specific than the previous one:
"And when you call to prayer (adhan)" — this verse is also an indication of the legitimacy of adhan for all five daily prayers.
"They take it as mockery and play" — some people say this is a reference to how they liken the sound of the adhan to animal noises, others flee from it like Satan does, and some ignore its call and do not respond by attending the congregational prayer.
"They do not understand" — they fail to grasp the purpose and meaning of the words. The phrases of the adhan include the glorification of Allah the Exalted, which affirms His oneness (Tawhid). Since testimony (shahadah) is confirmed by the witness of two people, the two testimonies (of the oneness of Allah and of the Messenger) are repeated twice.
