﴾100﴿ And whoever migrates in the way of Allah will find many places of refuge and abundance in the land. And whoever leaves his home as a migrant toward Allah and His Messenger, and then death overtakes him, his reward is indeed guaranteed by Allah. And Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
﴾101﴿ And when you travel in the land, there is no sin upon you if you shorten the prayer, if you fear that the disbelievers may harm you. Surely, the disbelievers are for you clear enemies.
﴾102﴿ And when you are among them and lead them in prayer (at the time of fear), let a group of them stand behind you, taking their weapons. Then, when they have prostrated (in the first unit), let them move to the back, and let another group who have not prayed come forward to pray behind you, taking precautions and holding their weapons. Those who disbelieve want you to be negligent of your weapons and supplies so that they can launch a sudden attack upon you. There is no sin upon you if you are troubled by rain or are ill and set your weapons aside, but take your precautions. Surely, Allah has prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment.

[100] This verse is evidence that when a good deed is accompanied by a sincere intention, the reward will be received even if the deed is not completed. (Muraghaman) refers to such places where the disbeliever becomes aware and feels sorrow. (Sa'atan) refers to the ease and comfort in life.
[101] This is the seventh ruling regarding prayer during travel. (If you fear) refers to the situation when traveling is associated with fear, as the next verse mentions the prayer of fear. This is an indication that the leader should train the Islamic army in this matter, even though the ruling of prayer during travel is not limited only to times of fear. (There is no sin upon you if you shorten) refutes those who consider shortening the prayer to be a sin; shortening is not a sin, but rather it is obligatory.
[102] In this verse, the arrangement of the prayer of fear is described, as it connects to the previous verse where fear is mentioned. Each group should perform one unit of prayer with the imam together and one unit alone. During the prayer, they should keep their weapons with them, but if there is an excuse, they may set them aside, though they must remain cautious. (When they prostrate) means completing a full unit, and prostration is mentioned because a unit is completed with it. (Let them pray with you) refers to performing the last unit with the imam, and when the imam completes the prayer, it is called the prayer of fear because of this. (Their caution) refers to being vigilant or standing guard.
