تِلْكَ الرُّسُلُ 108 آل عمران

قُلْ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا سَتُغْلَبُونَ وَتُحْشَرُونَ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ وَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ ﴿۱۲﴾ قَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ آيَةٌ فِي فِئَتَيْنِ الْتَقَتَا فِئَةٌ تُقَاتِلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَأُخْرَى كَافِرَةٌ يَرَوْنَهُمْ مِثْلَيْهِمْ رَأْيَ الْعَيْنِ وَاللَّهُ يُؤَيِّدُ بِنَصْرِهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِأُولِي الْأَبْصَارِ ﴿۱۳﴾ زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ الشَّهَوَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ وَالْبَنِينَ وَالْقَنَاطِيرِ الْمُقَنْطَرَةِ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَالْخَيْلِ الْمُسَوَّمَةِ وَالْأَنْعَامِ وَالْحَرْثِ ذَلِكَ مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَاللَّهُ عِنْدَهُ حُسْنُ الْمَآبِ ﴿۱۴﴾

﴾12﴿ Qul lillazeena kafaroosatughlaboona wa tuhsharoona ilaa jahannam; wa bi'sal mihaad
﴾13﴿ Qad kaana lakum Aayatun fee fi'atainil taqataa fi'atun tuqaatilu fee sabeelil laahi wa ukhraa kaafiratuny yarawnahum mislaihim ra' yal 'ayn; wallaahu yu'ayyidu bi nasrihee mai yashaaa'; innaa fee zaalika la 'ibratal li ulil absaar
﴾14﴿ Zuyyina linnaasi hubbush shahawaati minannisaaa'i wal baneena walqanaateeril muqantarati minaz zahabi walfiddati walkhailil musawwamati wal an'aami walhars; zaalika mataa'ul hayaatid dunyaa wallaahu 'indahoo husnul ma-aab

﴾12﴿ Say to those who disbelieve: You will soon be defeated and gathered together into Hell—and what an evil resting place it is.
﴾13﴿ Indeed, there is a sign for you in the two groups who faced each other: one group was fighting in the way of Allah, and the other was disbelievers. They (the disbelievers) saw them (the believers) as twice their own number with their eyes. And Allah strengthens with His help whom He wills. Surely, in this is a lesson for those of understanding.
﴾14﴿ Beautified for people is the love of desires—of women, children, hoarded treasures of gold and silver, fine horses, cattle, and cultivated land. These are the temporary enjoyments of the worldly life, but with Allah is the best place of return.

[12] This address is concerning the present disbelievers — meaning, they too should not be deceived by their wealth or large numbers. Soon they will be defeated in this world, and in the Hereafter, they will be cast into Hell.
[13] This refers to the event of Badr — it serves as an example of the punishment for the deniers and a glad tidings for the believers. It indicates that a large number of people is of no benefit at the time when Allah's punishment descends. The believers saw the disbelievers as twice their own number — meaning, in the beginning, they appeared very many — and the disbelievers saw the believers as very many in the later stage. In verse 44 of Surah Al-Anfal, the intermediate state is mentioned. So in this verse, "yarawnahum" — the subject pronoun refers to the believers, and the object pronoun refers to the disbelievers; though the reverse interpretation is also permissible. The word (laʿibratan) includes a tanwīn for emphasis, meaning it is a great lesson for guidance and insight.
[14] This verse mentions the insignificance of worldly life. It implies that having abundant wealth is of no real benefit. The idea is that the natural love for these things (even if it is without deliberate intent) is described here as beautified because people give preference to them. (Matāʿ) refers to something like a carcass that a person only consumes out of desperation (as noted in Nazm al-Durar). “Beautified for mankind is the love of desires” refers to things that human nature and the soul are naturally inclined toward, which is beyond one’s control. However, giving them preference over the Hereafter and religious matters is sinful. And considering them beneficial or decorated for oneself is a greater sin. In this verse, seven items are mentioned in a specific order.
