وَمَنْ يَرْغَبُ عَنْ مِلَّةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِلَّا مَنْ سَفِهَ نَفْسَهُ وَلَقَدِ اصْطَفَيْنَاهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَإِنَّهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ ﴿۱۳۰﴾ إِذْ قَالَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ أَسْلِمْ قَالَ أَسْلَمْتُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ﴿۱۳۱﴾ وَوَصَّى بِهَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بَنِيهِ وَيَعْقُوبُ يَا بَنِيَّ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَى لَكُمُ الدِّينَ فَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ ﴿۱۳۲﴾
﴾130﴿ Wa mai yarghabu 'am-Millati Ibraaheema illaa man safiha nafsah; wa laqadis tafainaahu fid-dunyaa wa innahoo fil aakhirati laminas saaliheen
﴾131﴿ Iz qaala lahoo Rabbuhooo aslim qaala aslamtu li Rabbil 'aalameen
﴾132﴿ Wa wassaa bihaaa Ibraaheemu baneehi wa Ya'qoob, yaa baniyya innal laahas tafaa lakumud deena falaa tamootunna illaa wa antum muslimoon
﴾130﴿ No one turns away from the religion of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) except one who has made himself foolish.
Indeed, We chose him in this world, and surely in the Hereafter, he is among the successful.
﴾131﴿ And when his Lord said to him, “Submit,” he said, “I have submitted to the Lord of all people.”
﴾132﴿ And Ibrahim (peace be upon him) advised his sons with the word of monotheism, and Yaqub (peace be upon him) did the same, saying, “O my sons, surely Allah has chosen the religion (of monotheism) for you, so do not die except while you are in a state of monotheism.”
[130-131] In these verses, the fifth point is the emphasis on the religion of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and a warning to those who turn away from it, and this defines foolishness in a religious sense.
“And indeed, We chose him” is the reason for the previous statement, and “choosing” was previously mentioned in connection to leadership.
“The successful” refers to those who achieve good deeds in this world, so here, “the successful” means those who are successful.
“Submit” means persistence and becoming steadfast in complete Islam.
“To the Lord of all worlds” in this context points to the reason for his submission.
[132] In this verse, the third purpose in the story of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) is mentioned, which is that both Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and Yaqub (peace be upon him) advised monotheism, so this matter is an ancient one.
The pronoun in “with it” refers to the phrase “I have submitted to the Lord of all people.”
Since the time of death is unknown to a person, the meaning here is that one must remain in a state of Islam at all times, whether in ease or difficulty, so that death comes while in a state of Islam.
