الم 33 اَلٌبَقَرَة

وَقَالُوا لَنْ تَمَسَّنَا النَّارُ إِلَّا أَيَّامًا مَعْدُودَةً قُلْ أَتَّخَذْتُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَهْدًا فَلَنْ يُخْلِفَ اللَّهُ عَهْدَهُ أَمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿80﴾ بَلَى مَنْ كَسَبَ سَيِّئَةً وَأَحَاطَتْ بِهِ خَطِيئَتُهُ فَأُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ ﴿81﴾ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ ﴿82﴾

﴾80﴿ Wa qaaloo lan tamassanan Naaru illaaa ayyaamam ma'doo dah; qul attakhaztum 'indal laahi 'ahdan falai yukhlifal laahu 'ahdahooo am taqooloona 'alal laahi maa laa ta'lamoon
﴾81﴿ Balaa man kasaba sayyi'atanw wa ahaatat bihee khateee'atuhoo fa-ulaaa'ika Ashaabun Naari hum feehaa khaalidoon
﴾82﴿ Wallazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati ulaaa'ika Ashaabul Jannati hum feeha khaalidoon

﴾80﴿ And they say, “The Fire will never touch us except for a few numbered days.” Say, “Have you taken a promise from Allah? For Allah never breaks His promise. Or are you attributing to Allah what you do not know (without knowledge or evidence)”
﴾81﴿ No, it is not as they claim—whoever commits evil (such as shirk) and his sin completely surrounds him (until the time of death), then they are the people of the Fire; they will remain in it forever.
﴾82﴿ And those who believed and did righteous deeds (according to the way of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and give him peace)—they are the people of Paradise; they will remain in it forever.

[80] This verse mentions the fifth corruption: these distorters among the scholars claim that they are the exclusive people of Paradise. The point is that despite their shirk, disbelief, and distortion, they consider themselves perfect believers, saying: “If, due to some sins, we enter Hell, it will only be for a few days—but we will certainly enter Paradise afterward.” This claim is false, because without true monotheism (tawḥīd), no one can enter Paradise. (ʿInda Allāhi ʿahdan) – This means: have they truly accepted Allah’s tawḥīd? Because the right to Paradise is only valid if tawḥīd exists. If they have tawḥīd, then Allah does not break His promise. Another interpretation: if they claim Allah has made a promise of Paradise to them through revelation, then let them prove it. (Am taqūlūna) – “Or are you saying…” implies an accusation of fabricating lies against Allah by falsely claiming Paradise for themselves.
[81] This verse is a conclusion and serves as a warning about the Hereafter—a fear of punishment for those who disobey. (Sayyiʾah) – According to Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both), this refers specifically to shirk (associating partners with Allah). (Wa aḥāṭat bihī khaṭīʾatuh) – “His sin surrounded him” means major sins, including shirk, that completely overtook him, and he did not repent before death. In other words, eternal punishment in Hell is for those whose sins—especially disbelief and shirk—remained with them until death, without repentance.
[82] This is a glad tidings for the obedient—those who follow the commands of Allah. It is based on true (Sharʿī) faith and righteous deeds, meaning actions that are in accordance with the Qur’an and the Sunnah.
