﴾10﴿ Then when the prayer is completed, disperse in the land and seek the bounty of Allah, and remember Allah much so that you may succeed
﴾11﴿ And when they see a trade or amusement, they rush toward it and leave you standing. Say, What is with Allah is better than amusement and trade, and Allah is the best of providers

[10] This verse highlights the difference between Friday in our religion and the sanctity of the Sabbath in Judaism.
For the Jews, all worldly work was prohibited throughout the Sabbath day.
In our religion, however, after the Friday prayer, we are commanded to engage in trade and seek sustenance.
Al-Qasimi said that the practice of praying four raka‘at after Jumu‘ah as a precautionary measure (known as salat ihtiyatiyyah) is mere sectarian rigidity and action without proof.
"(Then disperse through the land)"—This is not a command of obligation, but rather to oppose the People of the Book, who had made Saturday and Sunday full days of rest.
"(And seek from the bounty of Allah)"—This is general, including trade, visiting the sick, meeting fellow Muslims, seeking knowledge, and more.
"(And remember Allah much)"—The point is never to become heedless of Allah’s remembrance, whether by tongue, heart, obedience, or prayer.
It also alludes to performing the next prayer after Jumu‘ah.
The superiority of remembrance is in tawhid, sincerity, and accordance with the Sunnah.
[11] This verse serves as a warning regarding an incident that occurred among the noble Companions—when, during the Friday sermon of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace), they dispersed to manage trade, leaving only twelve people behind.
At that time, this was not considered a sin, because Allah had not yet revealed the ruling regarding it.
However, it served as a warning for future times.
This indicates that listening to the Friday sermon is obligatory.
"(Say: What is with Allah is better)"—Meaning, the reward and blessings found in listening to the sermon and performing prayer in congregation, or the sustenance gained through lawful means, is far better.
"(And Allah is the best of providers)"—This shows that sustenance is in the control of Allah Almighty—so by obeying Him, better provision will be attained.
