َقَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ 1340 الحديد

َ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَآمِنُوا بِرَسُولِهِ يُؤْتِكُمْ كِفْلَيْنِ مِنْ رَحْمَتِهِ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ نُورًا تَمْشُونَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ ﴿۲۸﴾ لِئَلَّا يَعْلَمَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَلَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَى شَيْءٍ مِنْ فَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَأَنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ ﴿۲۹﴾

﴾28﴿ Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena aamaanut taqullaaha wa aaminoo bi Rasoolihee yu'tikum kiflaini mir rahmatihee wa yaj'al lakum nooran tamshoona bihee wa yaghfir lakum; wallaahu
﴾29﴿ Li'alla ya'lama Ahlul kitaabi allaa yaqdiroona 'alaa shai'in min fadlil laahi wa annal fadla bi Yadil laahi yu'teehi many yashaaa'; wallaahu Zul fadilil 'azeem

﴾28﴿ O believers, fear Allah the Exalted and believe in His Messenger so that He may grant you two portions of His mercy and provide for you a light by which you will be guided, and forgive you. And Allah the Exalted is the Forgiving, the Merciful
﴾29﴿ So that the People of the Book may know that they have no control over anything of Allah’s grace, and that indeed, grace is in the hand of Allah; He grants it to whomever He wills. And Allah the Exalted is the Possessor of great bounty

[28] Since the previous condition of the People of the Book was mentioned with the phrase “and many of them are defiantly disobedient,” in this verse they are now being invited to the Messenger so that they may be protected from sin. The phrase “O you who believe” refers to the earlier believers who had faith in Moses (peace be upon him) and Jesus (peace be upon him) and were present during the time of the final Messenger.
“Fear Allah” means to protect themselves from the beliefs of shirk, trinity, and anthropomorphism that the Jews and Christians had fabricated.
“He will give you a double share” — the word kifl originally refers to an old covering cloth placed on a camel’s back to prevent the rider from falling. It also refers to a portion or reward that saves a person from misfortune. Here, it means a double reward.
“And He will place for you a light” refers to the light attained through the Holy Qur’an in this world via Qur’anic knowledge, and in the Hereafter, it refers to the light mentioned twice earlier in this surah (verses 19 and 12).
“By which you will walk” means to live life in this world in accordance with the Qur’an and Sunnah. The phrase “walk” also hints at worldly glad tidings — that your religion will prevail, and you will be honored and renowned.
[29] This verse has three interpretations:
First, it is connected to the meaning of the previous verse — that if you believe in this Messenger, you will receive three benefits (mentioned earlier), so that the disbelieving People of the Book may know that they have no share in the grace of Allah, meaning they are incapable of attaining those past benefits.
The second meaning is that (this Messenger was sent to people other than the People of the Book) so that all the People of the Book may know that this Prophet and his nation have been granted the grace of Allah — that is, prophethood and superiority.
The third meaning is that (We invited you to believe in this final Messenger) so that the People of the Book (the monks) would realize that this nation has been granted strength and ability to struggle in the path of Allah, and this success is in the hand of Allah — He grants it to whomever He wills.
