أَفَلَمْ يَنْظُرُوا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَوْقَهُمْ كَيْفَ بَنَيْنَاهَا وَزَيَّنَّاهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِنْ فُرُوجٍ ﴿۶﴾ وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ زَوْجٍ بَهِيجٍ ﴿۷﴾ تَبْصِرَةً وَذِكْرَى لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍ مُنِيبٍ ﴿۸﴾ وَنَزَّلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً مُبَارَكًا فَأَنْبَتْنَا بِهِ جَنَّاتٍ وَحَبَّ الْحَصِيدِ ﴿۹﴾ وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ لَهَا طَلْعٌ نَضِيدٌ ﴿۱۰﴾

﴾6﴿ Afalam yanzurooo ilas samaaa'i fawqahum kaifa banainaahaa wa zaiyannaahaa wa maa lahaa min furooj
﴾7﴿ Wal arda madadnaahaa wa alqainaa feehaa rawaasiya wa ambatnaa feehaa min kulli zawjim baheej
﴾8﴿ Tabsiratanw wa zikraa likulli 'abdim muneeb
﴾9﴿ Wa nazzalnaa minas samaaa'i maaa'am mubaarakan fa ambatnaa bihee jannaatinw wa habbal haseed
﴾10﴿ Wannakhla baasiqaatil laha tal'un nadeed

﴾6﴿ Do they not look toward the sky above them—how We have built it and adorned it, and there are no gaps in it
﴾7﴿ And We spread out the earth and cast therein firm mountains, and We caused to grow therein every beautiful kind of plant
﴾8﴿ As a means of insight and a reminder for every servant who seeks the truth
﴾9﴿ And We sent down blessed water from the sky, then We brought forth with it gardens and grain for harvest
﴾10﴿ And towering date palms with clustered fruit

[6] From this verse up to verse 11, rational afāqī (external, universal) evidences are presented to prove resurrection after death — following the mention of their denial, just as after their amazement, a scientific proof had been mentioned earlier.
In this verse, a rational ‘ulwī (celestial/heavenly) proof is given, and it includes three elements.
(فُرُوجٍ) — This means splits or cracks.
That is, the parts of the sky are joined together smoothly and uniformly without any breaks — and this remains its state until the Day of Destruction (Qiyāmah).
This is supported by verses from Surahs: Al-Mursalāt (77:9), At-Takwīr (81:11), Al-Infiṭār (82:1), and Al-Inshiqāq (84:1).
[7] In this verse, a rational suflī (earthly, terrestrial) proof is presented, and it consists of three elements.
The meaning of "spreading the earth" (madda al-arḍ) on the Day of Judgment is that it will be extended in such a way that the mountains and depressions will be removed from it — making it smooth and even.
(زَوْجٍ) — This refers to different types of vegetation and plants that, despite differing in some attributes, resemble and harmonize with one another in other characteristics.
[8] In this verse, the benefit of the two previous proofs (the celestial and terrestrial signs) is mentioned.
The first benefit is تَبْصِرَةً (insight), and the second is ذِكْرَى (reminder).
Both of these benefits apply to the heavens and the earth — meaning, both the skies and the earth contain signs that offer insight and serve as reminders.
The difference between the two is:
Tabṣirah is a lesson or realization that comes through seeing — a visual reflection.
Dhikrá is a reminder or advice that is internalized through intellect and heart.
Alternatively, tabṣirah refers to the signs of Tawḥīd (the Oneness of Allah), while dhikrá points to the signs proving resurrection after death.
The word مُنِيبٍ (one who turns) indicates that these benefits are not attained by the stubborn or rebellious.
Rather, only those who turn away from worldly desires toward the truth can truly benefit from these signs.
[9] This is another proof — a middle rational proof, and it also consists of three elements:
1. Sending down water — meaning the raining of rain.
2. Bringing forth gardens.
3. Causing crops to grow.
(مُبَارَكًا) — Refers to the type of rain through which the earth is revived, the atmosphere is purified, and illnesses are reduced.
Allah has placed these types of blessings in rain.
(وَحَبَّ الْحَصِيدِ) — This refers to grains like wheat, barley, and similar crops, whose stalks are harvested after drying, and then the grains are separated using tools.
[10] This is another middle rational proof, and it also consists of three elements:
(وَالنَّخْلَ) — The date palm is mentioned separately because its characteristics and benefits surpass those of other trees.
This proof includes three components:
1. The palm tree (النخل).
2. (بَاسِقَاتٍ) — Refers to tall and upright growth; it can also mean straightness and symmetry in height.
3. (لَهَا طَلْعٌ نَضِيدٌ) — Ṭal‘ refers to the initial form of the date fruit, which appears enclosed in a sheath or husk; naḍīd refers to the stage before it opens, when the fruits are tightly packed together in neat clusters.
