يَغْشَى النَّاسَ هَذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴿۱۱﴾ رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿۱۲﴾ أَنَّى لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَى وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُبِينٌ ﴿۱۳﴾ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَجْنُونٌ ﴿۱۴﴾ إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ ﴿۱۵﴾ يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَى إِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُونَ ﴿۱۶﴾

﴾11﴿ Yaghshan naasa haazaa 'azaabun aleem
﴾12﴿ Rabbanak shif 'annal 'azaaba innaa mu'minoon
﴾13﴿ Annaa lahumuz zikraa wa qad jaaa'ahum Rasoolum mubeen
﴾14﴿ Summaa tawallaw 'anhu wa qaaloo mu'allamum majnoon
﴾15﴿ Innaa kaashiful 'azaabi qaleelaa; innakum 'aaa'idoon
﴾16﴿ Yawma nabtishul batsha tal kubraa innaa muntaqimoon

﴾11﴿ It will envelop the people; this is a painful punishment
﴾12﴿ They will say, O our Lord, remove this punishment from us; indeed, we will believe
﴾13﴿ How can they take heed, while a messenger had already come to them with a clear prophethood
﴾14﴿ Yet they turned away from him and said, He is taught by others; he is a madman
﴾15﴿ Indeed, We will remove the punishment for a little while, but surely you will return (to disbelief)
﴾16﴿ So on the Day when We seize them with the great seizure, indeed, We are the Avenger

[16] This is also a worldly warning, and its intended meaning is the destruction of the polytheists on the Day of Badr — or it is an otherworldly warning, and the meaning of "the blow" (batshah) is the seizing of the polytheists with severe punishment on the Day of Judgment.
