وَمَا لِيَ 1117 الزمر

خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَأَنْزَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْعَامِ ثَمَانِيَةَ أَزْوَاجٍ يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ خَلْقًا مِنْ بَعْدِ خَلْقٍ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ ثَلَاثٍ ذَلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَأَنَّى تُصْرَفُونَ ﴿۶﴾ إِنْ تَكْفُرُوا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَنِيٌّ عَنْكُمْ وَلَا يَرْضَى لِعِبَادِهِ الْكُفْرَ وَإِنْ تَشْكُرُوا يَرْضَهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ ﴿۷﴾

﴾6﴿ Khalaqakum min nafsinw waahidatin summa ja'ala minhaa zawjahaa wa anzala lakum minal-an'aami samaani yata azwaaj; yakhlu qukum fee butooni ummahaatikum khalqam mim ba'di khalqin fee zulumaatin salaas; zaalikumul laahu Rabbukum lahul mulk; laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa fa annaa tusrafoon
﴾7﴿ In takfuroo fa innal laaha ghaniyyun 'ankum; wa laa yardaa li'ibaadihil kufra wa in tashkuroo yardahu lakum; wa laa taziru waaziratunw wizra ukhraa; summa ilaa Rabikum marji'ukum fa-yunabbi'ukum bimaa kuntum ta'maloon; innahoo 'aleemum bizaatissudoor

﴾6﴿ He created you from a single soul, then created its spouse from it, and He created for you eight pairs of livestock. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, one stage of creation after another, in three layers of darkness. This is Allah, your Lord, to whom belongs the kingdom. There is no one worthy of worship except Him, so how are you turned away
﴾7﴿ If you disbelieve, then surely Allah is independent of you and does not approve disbelief for His servants. But if you are grateful, He approves it for you. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you of what you have done. Indeed, He is fully aware of what is hidden within the hearts

[6] This is the second rational proof, and it is an introspective (anfusī) one. In this too, the creative power, control, and lordship of Allah the Exalted are mentioned.
(وَأَنْزَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْعَامِ) — “He sent down for you from the livestock”: Here, “anzala” (sent down) means “created.” It is expressed as “anzala” because livestock survive on plants, plants grow through water, and water is sent down from above. Thus, every act of creation that involves heavenly means can be expressed as “sending down.”
(فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ ثَلَاثٍ) — “In three layers of darkness”: A creation made in a single darkness would be impossible for a human, but Allah the Exalted creates a complete human being in three layers of darkness: the first is the darkness of the mother's belly, the second is the womb, and the third is the peritoneum — the thin membrane that surrounds the baby.
[7] In this verse, the mention of the two groups comes after the presentation of proofs.
In the first sentence, there is a warning and an indication that your disbelief in Allah the Exalted does not harm Him, rather it harms you.
In the second sentence, it answers a question: if disbelief does not harm Allah the Exalted, then why does He forbid it? The answer is that no master would be pleased with the ingratitude (kufr) of his servant. So how could Allah the Exalted, who is Most Merciful, be pleased with the disbelief of His servants?
In the third sentence, there is good news that Allah accepts gratitude, and an indication that Allah the Exalted is not in need of your gratitude.
In the fourth sentence, it responds to the question: if disbelief does not harm Allah, then upon whom does the harm fall? The answer is that it falls upon those who are great leaders in misguidance. Then it is answered with: (وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ) — “No bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another.”
Finally, in the last sentence, there is a warning. Since the foundation of actions lies in the intention of the heart—that is, everything depends on the heart—He concluded with the statement: (إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ) — “Indeed, He is All-Knowing of what lies within the breasts (hearts).”
