وَمَنْ يَقْنُتَْْ 1069 يٰسٓ
إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ مُرْسَلُونَ ﴿۱۴﴾ قَالُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنْزَلَ الرَّحْمَنُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ ﴿۱۵﴾ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ ﴿۱۶﴾ وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ ﴿۱۷﴾ قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمْ مِنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴿۱۸﴾ قَالُوا طَائِرُكُمْ مَعَكُمْ أَئِنْ ذُكِّرْتُمْ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ ﴿۱۹﴾ وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَى قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ ﴿۲۰﴾ اتَّبِعُوا مَنْ لَا يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ ﴿۲۱﴾
﴾14﴿ Iz arsalnaaa ilaihimusnaini fakazzaboohumaa fa'azzaznaa bisaalisin faqaalooo innaaa ilaikum mursaloon
﴾15﴿ Qaaloo maaa antum illaa basharum mislunaa wa maaa anzalar Rahmaanu min shai'in in antum illaa takziboon
﴾16﴿ Qaaloo Rabbunaa ya'lamu innaaa ilaikum lamursaloon
﴾17﴿ Wa maa 'alainaaa illal balaaghul mubeen
﴾18﴿ Qaaloo innaa tataiyarnaa bikum la'il-lam tantahoo lanar jumannakum wa la-yamassan nakum minnaa 'azaabun aleem
﴾19﴿ Qaaloo taaa'irukum ma'akum; a'in zukkirtum; bal antum qawmum musrifoon
﴾20﴿ Wa jaaa'a min aqsal madeenati rajuluny yas'aa qaala yaa qawmit tabi'ul mursaleen
﴾21﴿ Ittabi'oo mal-laa yas'alukum ajranw-wa hum muhtadoon
﴾14﴿ When We sent to them two messengers, but they denied them, so We strengthened them with a third, and they said, Indeed, we have been sent to you as messengers
﴾15﴿ They said, You are nothing but human beings like us, and the Most Merciful has not sent down anything. You are only lying
﴾16﴿ They said, Our Lord knows that indeed we have been sent to you as messengers
﴾17﴿ And our duty is only to convey the message clearly
﴾18﴿ They said indeed we become distressed becuse of you. if you do not desist, we will surely stone you and a painfull pusnishment from us will certainly teach you
﴾19﴿ They said, Your bad omen is because of yourselves. Is it that if you are given advice, you reject it? Rather, you are a transgressing people
﴾20﴿ And there came from the farthest part of the city a man running. He said, O my people, follow the messengers
﴾21﴿ Follow those who do not ask you for any reward, and they are rightly guided
[14] This is a detailed explanation following a summary.
In past times, to one town, many messengers were often sent together.
And in this, there is consolation for the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and give him peace)—that messengers before you were also denied.
[15] This is a detailed description of rejection in three forms, and from this it becomes clear that denying the Prophethood due to the humanity of the Messenger is an ancient ignorant belief held by the polytheists.
[16] "(رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ)"—this phrase functions in place of an oath, which is why the object of "يَعْلَمُ" (what is known) is not mentioned.
[17] This means that since we are messengers, our responsibility is only to convey the message—whether you accept it or not is not upon us.
[18] This is another form of their rejection—they claimed that your preaching is false, and because of it, misfortune has come upon us: such as diseases, famine, inflation, rising prices, and other hardships.
[19] "طَائِرُكُمْ" refers to the portion assigned to a person by Allah the Exalted—here, it means misfortune.
"مَعَكُمْ" means it is attached to you, due to your own evil deeds.
In this verse, the people did not accept that their hardships were the result of their own actions, which is why "معكم" was used—to emphasize that the misfortune was with them because of themselves.
"بَلْ أَنْتُمْ" clearly states that the real cause of your suffering is your transgression—meaning shirk, disbelief, and preventing others from following the religion.
Note: From these verses, it is understood that "تَطَيُّر" (attributing misfortune to omens) means that hardship comes upon a person due to his own actions.
It is not permissible to attribute misfortune to a place, time, or another person.
For this reason, the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "لَا طِيَرَةَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ"—there is no bad omen in Islam.
The principle in Islam is that one should not blame other things for their hardships, but rather see their own actions as the cause.
[20] A similar statement appears in Surah Al-Qasas (28:20): "اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ" (Follow the messengers).
It is obligatory upon a believing nation to call people to follow the Prophet.
[21] This mentions two reasons for the necessity of following the messengers:
1. Not seeking any reward from people—this is a sign of sincerity (ikhlāṣ), and such a person does not conceal the truth.
2. Being rightly guided—meaning they follow the guidance of revelation and act according to it. This is a sign of truthfulness and legitimacy.
