اتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَْ 1012 الأحزاب

النَّبِيُّ أَوْلَى بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُ أُمَّهَاتُهُمْ وَأُولُو الْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَى بِبَعْضٍ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُهَاجِرِينَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَفْعَلُوا إِلَى أَوْلِيَائِكُمْ مَعْرُوفًا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَسْطُورًا ﴿۶﴾ وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ مِيثَاقَهُمْ وَمِنْكَ وَمِنْ نُوحٍ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى وَعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُمْ مِيثَاقًا غَلِيظًا ﴿۷﴾ لِيَسْأَلَ الصَّادِقِينَ عَنْ صِدْقِهِمْ وَأَعَدَّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا ﴿۸﴾

﴾6﴿ An-Nabiyyu awlaa bil mu'mineena min anfusihim wa azwaajuhoo ummahatuhum wa ulul arhaami ba'duhum awlaa biba'din fee Kitaabil laahi minal mu'meneena wal Muhaajireena illaaa an taf'alooo ilaaa awliyaaa'ikum ma'roofaa; kaana zaalika fil kitaabi mastooraa
﴾7﴿ Wa iz akhaznaa minan Nabiyyeena meesaaqahum wa minka wa min Noohinw wa Ibraaheema wa Moosaa wa Eesab-ni-Maryama wa akhaznaa minhum meesaaqan ghaleezaa
﴾8﴿ Liyas'alas saadiqeena 'an sidqihim; wa a'adda lilkaa fireena 'azaaban aleemaa

﴾6﴿ The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is closer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers. And blood relatives are more entitled (to inheritance) to one another in the decree of Allah than the (general) believers and the emigrants, except that you do some kindness to your close companions (by making a will in their favor). This is written in the Book (of Allah’s decree)
﴾7﴿ And (remember) when We took a covenant from all the prophets, and from you (O Muhammad) specifically, and from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, the son of Mary—and We took from them a firm covenant
﴾8﴿ So that He may question the truthful about their truthfulness, and He has prepared a painful punishment for the disbelievers

[6] This is the second address to the believers, regarding the greatness of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) and his wives.
"Awlā" means that he is more compassionate and merciful to the believers than their own selves — because a person’s own self often invites him to desires that lead to destruction, while the Prophet always calls them to guidance and salvation.
Therefore, it becomes clear that his compassion is greater than even that of their own selves — and greater than that of their fathers as well.
"And his wives are their mothers" — this comparison to mothers means they are to be honored and respected like real mothers, and marriage to them is permanently forbidden.
So, do not speak ill of his wives, just as you would not speak ill of your own mothers.
"And those of kinship…" — this part removes a misconception: since the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) is like a father to the ummah, and his wives are like their mothers, would the ummah then inherit from them?
The answer is no — inheritance is based on blood relations, and the term ulū al-arḥām refers to relatives by lineage.
"Unless you do some good for your allies" — this refers to awliyā’ (friends and supporters) by faith and migration, and ma‘rūf means to treat them kindly through bequests, gifts, or acts of generosity.
[7,8] This is the fifth address to the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and give him peace), regarding the covenant and responsibility of calling people to the truth.
Its connection to the previous verse is that there it was established how deeply compassionate and merciful the Prophet is toward his ummah.
Now, in this verse, the reason for that compassion is mentioned — that this Prophet is a dā‘ī (caller), and it is necessary for a caller to be compassionate, just as a father is toward his children.
"Mīthāqan" — this covenant refers to the duty of calling and conveying the message of tawḥīd (Oneness of Allah) and affirming the truth between the caller and those being called.
