وَقَالَ الَّذِينَْ 876 الفرقان
تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجًا وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَاجًا وَقَمَرًا مُنِيرًا ﴿۶۱﴾ وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَذَّكَّرَ أَوْ أَرَادَ شُكُورًا ﴿۶۲﴾
﴾61﴿ Tabaarakal lazee ja'ala fis samaaa'i buroojanw wa ja'ala feehaa siraajanw wa qamaran muneeraa
﴾62﴿ Wa huwal lazee ja'alal laila wannahaara khilfatan liman araada 'any yazzakkara aw araadaa shukooraa
﴾61﴿ Blessed is the One who placed in the sky great constellations and placed therein a radiant sun and an illuminating moon

[61] From this verse to the end of the surah is the fourth section.
In it, the challenge to produce a surah is repeated for the third time, followed by two rational proofs, then fifteen qualities of the righteous are mentioned along with glad tidings for them, and the conclusion ends with worldly rebuke and warning.
In this verse, the blessings referred to are spiritual blessings — those attributes which Allah the Exalted grants to His righteous servants — and this is a rational proof.
“Burūj” refers to great stars, or it may mean the places where the guardian angels reside, or the stations where the stars become visible.
And by mentioning Burūj, the sun, and the moon, there is a subtle reference to the categorization of the righteous into three groups: the perfectly virtuous, the moderate servants, and the common believers.
All of them are sources of light and adornment for the earth.
[62] This is the final rational proof. The meaning of “khilfah” is that night and day continuously follow one another in quick succession.
Another meaning is that they act as deputies (successors) of each other.
In an authentic hadith, it is mentioned that if someone misses their regular worship during the day, they may perform it at night, and if they miss the night’s worship, they may do it during the day — aligning with this meaning.
That is why “for the one who wishes to be reminded” is mentioned — meaning, to take a lesson from the alternation of night and day as a sign of Allah’s oneness.
“Or wishes to be grateful” refers to obeying Allah the Exalted after affirming the belief in His oneness.
