﴾11﴿ Fadarabnaa 'alaaa aazaanihim fil Kahfi seneena 'adadaa

﴾10﴿ When the young men sought refuge in the cave, they said, Our Lord, grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us guidance in our affair
﴾11﴿ So We cast a cover of sleep over their ears in the cave for a number of years

[10] In this verse, the weakness of the Companions of the Cave in migrating to the cave is mentioned, along with their supplication, seeking mercy and guidance.
In Christianity (according to one opinion), it is permissible to choose monasticism and live in a cave.
Benefit: This is evidence that migrating to protect one’s religion during times of tribulation and fear is a tradition of saints and prophets.
However, this act of going to the cave cannot be used as proof for those elders who, without any fear of tribulation or corruption, retreat to caves for seclusion and, despite having the ability, abandon religious preaching and congregational prayers.
[11] In this verse, the need of the Companions of the Cave for Allah Most High in being put to sleep is mentioned.
Since they were prevented from calling to the religion, Allah Most High granted them comfort through sleep.
And He mentioned the ears for the reason that the perfection of sleep comes when the ears are closed from hearing sounds.
Likewise, in this is a sign that putting them to sleep was out of Allah’s compassion for them—just like a mother, out of compassion, gently taps her child’s ears while putting them to sleep.
