وَمَا أُبَرِّئٍُ 577 ابراهیم
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَى لِقَوْمِهِ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ أَنْجَاكُمْ مِنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ وَيُذَبِّحُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءَكُمْ وَفِي ذَلِكُمْ بَلَاءٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ ﴿۶﴾ وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِنْ شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ وَلَئِنْ كَفَرْتُمْ إِنَّ عَذَابِي لَشَدِيدٌ ﴿۷﴾ وَقَالَ مُوسَى إِنْ تَكْفُرُوا أَنْتُمْ وَمَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ حَمِيدٌ ﴿۸﴾
﴾6﴿ Wa iz qaala Moosaa liqawmihiz kuroo ni'matal laahi 'alaikum iz anjaakum min Aali Fir'awna yasoomoo nakum sooo'al 'azaabi wa yuzabbihoona abnaaa'akum wa yastahyoona nisaaa'akum; wa fee zaalikum balaaa'un mir Rabbikum 'azeem
﴾7﴿ Wa iz ta azzana Rabbukum la'in shakartum la azeedannakum wa la'in kafartum inna 'azaabee lashadeed
﴾8﴿ Wa qaala Moosaaa in takfurooo antum wa man fil ardi jamee'an fa innal laaha la Ghaniyyun Hameed
﴾6﴿ And remember when Moses (peace be upon him) said to his people: Remember the favor of Allah upon you when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh, who inflicted upon you the worst torment, slaughtering your sons and sparing your women (for humiliation). And in this was a great trial from your Lord
﴾7﴿ And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed: If you are grateful, I will surely increase [My blessings] for you; but if you are ungrateful, indeed My punishment is severe
﴾8﴿ And Moses (peace be upon him) said: If you and everyone on earth are ungrateful, indeed Allah is free of need and Praiseworthy
[6] In this verse, the mention of punishments and the blessing of salvation is directed at the Children of Israel. The verse aims to detail the events and blessings, and for this reason, (وَيُذَبِّحُونَ) is connected (through conjunction) to يَسُومُونَكُمْ.
[7] Gratitude includes monotheism, obedience to the Messenger, and preaching the religion. Al-Qurtubi has mentioned the meaning of gratitude as acknowledging the blessing of the Bestower and using the blessing in obedience to Allah the Exalted.
What is meant by "increase" is the increase of blessings and rewards, and elevation in both worldly and otherworldly aspects.
Note: The preferred opinion is that this verse is also part of the preaching of Musa (peace be upon him), and it is conjoined to Allah’s blessing mentioned in the previous verse.
[8] In this verse, there is a warning and an emphasis on the previous verse. (تَكْفُرُوا)—the consequence of its root is hidden, meaning your ingratitude cannot cause any harm to Allah the Exalted. (فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ) is the reasoning for this hidden consequence. A similar construction is also found in verse 7 of Surah Az-Zumar.
From verse 9, the second section begins until verse 18. It starts with "Alam" as a reminder. These passages recount the experiences of previous prophets with their people in the context of the confrontation between light and the people of darkness—that is, the messengers striving to bring their people out of darkness into light, while the people denied and opposed them, even driving the messengers out of their towns.
It also mentions the statements of the messengers, their trust in Allah, their patience, and ultimately the destruction of the deniers. This theme extends from verse 9 to verse 41.
Then, there is a warning about the Hereafter in three verses, followed by an example in verse 18 that illustrates the futility of the deeds of the polytheists.
